My brakes will squeak sometimes when backing up from sitting a long time. It only started happening when I had my brakes worked on. It is a very loud squeak. This problem was brought up in an older thread in 2011, but not too many responses.

How long ago where they done? Anyone know if the toyota rear brakes auto adjust in reverse? If they did not adjust properly maybe every time you are backing up they are still trying to adjust?

The brakes were worked on about 4 months ago now.

Get your manual out and compare the brake pics in the manual with what's going on with your own brakes. Sounds like the mechanic screwed up. I've done my own brakes a few times and to make sure I don't screw up I take pics before I touch anything.
If you can't see anything amiss, check yours against a friends right down to the last detail. You can also try comparing left to right. That will work unless he F**k'd both sides.
