    My 4wd V6 has had a squeak that sounds rotational (drive line). I just noticed I can hear it best under light throttle and it disappeared at no throttle. Thoughts?

    Well I think I found the cause. Just need to research how to fix this now. The rubber driveshaft holder thing (carrier bearing I think) should have a little bit of play right?

    That looks like a picture of a dust cap on your u-joint, the carrier bearing goes around your driveshaft to support it.

    There's a lot of slop in that region. Carrier bearing was a separate question but the only play I notice is the movement of the rubber. Kind of seems hard to check that bearing.

    Carrier bearing will have some play, but that picture you posted is of a u-joint that looks bad.

    Usually a u-joint will have a clunk associated with it during initial acceleration and let off. If it's sloppy go ahead and replace it, carrier bearing should have a little bit of movement.

    Well I learned how to replace a U joint today...

    The zerk fitting was clogged with rust.

    I always grease too.

    Other U joints are good. Always packed with grease till a tiny bit seeped from rubber boot (that causes no harm right?). Never went longer than 10k without checking for grease. Truck has 100k. I heard a driveline click around 50k. Maybe that was the start?
