I'm getting the squeaking noise when I put the truck in reverse, but not when I go forward. Usually in the mornings. If I have the windows down it sounds like it is coming from under the truck but I am not 100% on that. From reading some other threads it seems like my u joints and bearings need to be greased or worse (replaced). I drive a prerunner and I read that only the 4x4's have the grease fittings for the gun. What is the best suggestions for greasing these?

Is it a rotational squeak, or does it just squeak as you start moving? (if that makes any sense..)

As for the U-joints, just get under the truck and see if you have grease fittings. If not, the best way to grease them is replace them with greasable U-joints. I guess you could take them out, grease them, and put them back in, but what the crap would be the point of that?

It's most definitely a rotational squeak. Like I said it will only do it in reverse. Doesn't make a peep when going forward.

mine did that too, then later happened when in drive, check your U joints, mine were broken at the rear diff, you might want to invest in the CB drop too if you're lifted

I'm lifted 2.5 in the front and 1.5 in the back. 2wd. Think I need the CB drop?

I wouldn't fool with the drop, axle shims, or any of that unless you're having vibes. Just check your U-joints.

I'm just going to get the u joints replaced. I'm almost at 130k. It's just time. Think I should go ahead and have the center bearing done while I'm at it?

I probably would since you'll already have the driveshaft apart. The Dorman carrier bearings seem to be okay and are only like $40.

i kept breaking u joint because of my lift, which is larger than yours, but the CB drop eliminated all problems.

Yeah, but the drop works on some and makes others worse. It all depends on the setup. The only way to really tell is by measuring the angles.

I ordered the OME CB drop from Wheelersoffroad.com just to see if it helps. Can't hurt for $12.00

Just replaced all three u-joints today with Moog 354 greasables. A local auto repair shop only charged me $65.00 to install them. No brainer.
