could be lower control arm bushings. all 1st gens will need them by now if they haven't already been done, regardless of miles. i just did mine. took me a couple weekends to do myself because i was missing some crucial tools i had to buy. probably cheaper to buy complete replacement control arms if you don't like buying tools.

Sounds like the power steering pump, if it's doing it while stopped turning the wheel.
Or if it's doing while rolling then probably a wheel bearing.

Upper and lower control arms bushings or maybe even the sway bar, or ball joints. Get the front end up on a Jack and some stands. Start moving stuff around that goes up and down.

I bet it's the upper ball joints. Mine were squeaking really bad when I came back from a particularly muddy wheeling trip, they made a terrible groaning squeak/creak noise when turning the wheel. I felt a hole in the rubber boot on the backside so I shoved a water hose in there, flushed all the dirt out and then took a bunch of grease and packed it into the boot through the hole. The squeak went away and hasn't come back. I don't plan to replace until I hit 200k which is 13k miles from now. I did both sides this way.

Yes , my ball joint broke after 240K whole wheel disabled obviously . Lucky I was going slow. The driver side was replaced 4 years ago. It is now squeaking, I sprayed it with lithum lube in a can, didn't help. Should I replace it or any other suggestions, It visually appears ok.
