I heard this for the first time Saturday in my garage with the window down, A/C was on at startup. Interested to see what comes of this. Closest dealer is an hour away so I won't be dropping it off any time soon.

Mine does the same. I kinda thought it was the transmission being with the new TSB for it. But now reading through this I would agree that it could be the compressor. My truck goes in on Friday for it 10k service. I will have them check it out. It is kinda annoying. Chirp chirp.

BUCKLE UP! It makes it harder for Aliens to pull you out of your Truck.
I’ll guess belt tensioner or idler pulleys.

Just got it checked at the dealer.

Needs a new belt tensioner. Part should come in later this week.

Interesting. Please confirm that fixes it after it’s replaced.

Will do, I'm pretty confident it will since the tech knew exactly what was happening to cause the squeak.

Do the idlers, too. Just do it; unless you want to do this all over, again.

It's all under warranty so I'll cross that road if need be. The dealer is only a few miles away so I'm fine with taking their recommendations.

So what's the summary so far? Should we all ask for new belt tensioners?

I can't imagine there is a 4th gen out there without the squeak when the truck first starts up when it's cold with the AC on.

Not a lot of help but my 2023 tundra does this on cold startup with AC on. I thought we were so far above this as most modern vehicles will disengage the AC clutch on startup as to not load the system while starting.

I just leave AC off as I’ve learned my dealer will 50/50 fix the issue but 100/0 fuck something else up in the process.

Yup, my 2024 Tundra chirps on cold start when the AC kicks on as well. Dealer couldn’t duplicate of course.

After 4 new Toyotas over the years, I have learned taking my trucks to the dealership for minor issues to be covered under warranty is not worth the headache.

    Agree.

Ironically, I buy Toyota’s specifically b/c I don’t want service techs fiddling with tensioners or pulling the dash on my new vehicle w under 10k mi, much less swapping tranny’s or motors. If I enjoyed that, I’d probably go buy a Ranger instead.

We see it repeated all the time here, but as always, best advice is never buy the first year.

Dropped it off last night and went in this morning to start.it for them. They took a video and submitted a "TASE" case to Toyota. Now we wait.....

Update on this from my end. I had the belt tensioner and belt (I think) replaced for the squeak. Everything seems pretty good in the few miles I have driven.

I want to say I can still hear something when the AC comes on occasionally but I think it is pretty normal sounding engine noise type stuff. It is for sure better than before. I will see if it gets worse or I hear more.

Got a call from the dealer and they have a AC compressor on order. Said it is on "intergalactic" back order....

Probably the better roll of the dice, as per your dealer got Toyota field service engineers involved & they made the decision.
Vs Poot Klopps technician that rolled the dice on a belt & tensioner without contacting toyota hotline...
I can see it being either scenario for sure but that data base is there for a reason, especially with new product design releases...
Im saying all this as been a dealer engine tech for 30+ years....
I dealt with all aspects of engine repairs, manual trans, exhaust repairs, overheating / coolant concerns, all noises, broken bolts & it didnt matter who broke them as they all came to me, I was the expert bolt remover guy....o_O
