I am not sure exactly how to describe this but it sounds like a squeaking sound when the engine is at idle. I have only so far tried to see if its the fan clutch but when I spin it by hand with the engine off it there no play or any sound and it feels that it has the right resistance. This weekend I will try to take the belts off see if any of the accessories are the culprit. The belts have been changed a couple of years ago not sure they are bad but anything is possible.

Before I dig in to troubleshooting this weekend wanted to see if anyone has seen this before. Video is below:

I had this once in my '05. It was dust/dirt build up in the serpentine belt. I took it off and washed it. Never another sound.

Maybe your fan bracket bearing is crapping out.

Sounds like the bearing in something. Perhaps the belt idler pulley?

I think I may have found it... it seems the alternator belts is the culprit. I checked all pulleys and belt driven accessories and could not find anything wrong. Then with the truck running I sprayed some water into the inside of the belt and immediately it stopped the sound. So I ordered all three new belts from rockauto and this weekend is install party! This will be the first time I am changing these that are three different belts. All my other cars had one serpentine belt but I am sure google can show me how to do all this.

My truck is making a similar squeal..when I'm on the gas the noise will go away. Only makes the noise when I'm stopped. Yours was doing the same?

Pretty much exactly the same, the lower the RPM the louder the noise. My belts are supposed to come in via FedEx this Friday so over the weekend I will see if that fixes it.

try doing that again but spraying the belt at the crank pulley. you were hitting the alternator right about where a bearing is on the inside of the case vents. and it would make more sense that its the alternator rather than the belts. but lets hope it is the belts!

Good news... the belts were the problem, I got the belts in today and replaced all three and the engine bay is much much quieter and the chirping sound of sort is completely gone. I have to say the power steering belt was a pain in the you know what to replace, no easy access to the adjustment belt from any angle... finally just had to feel for the bolt. Anywho I went to the Dayco belts and so far they are good, only time will tell how good they really are. For those interested the part numbers are below:

    Alternator: 5040413
    A/C: 5040343
    Power steering: 5040420

I also replaced the idler pulley while everything was taken apart, just in case.
