Anyone changed belts on an 04 Tacoma 4wd. Have 125,000 on it and believe that they are original. I'm starting to hear a squeak when it starts up, usually only in the a.m. Don't know if its the belts, alternator, or an idler.

Mine does this also, it is probably a idler bearing. It is one of those noises that I know from the sound that it is not serious and it can wait untill I do the timing belt and water pump. i have 70,000mi.

Does not sound like a belt to me, but I can't hear yours. FSM recommends timing belt @ 90,000 and you may as well do the water pump also. these are not interferance motors so if the belt goes, you walk, but it does not bend valves. I am assuming you have the V6.

Actually I have the 4 cylinder 5 speed. No timing belt to worry about....For the $60 dollar investment I believe I'll start with the belts and then go from there.

On the V6 we change them with the timing belt @90,000 since it has been seen to fail around this time and you are in there. Dont know on the 4s
