I just got back from my oil change. Before I went I bought a can of brake caliper grease and applied some to the top end of the shaft just like in the pics above…. BAM, squeak is gone! The tech at the dealership took a look and said everything checks out perfectly including the bolt at the top of the shaft.
15,000 miles with fresh synthetic oil and a truck that purrs like a kitten… happy camper!

I greased the master cylinder. The squeak is gone 99.9%, except there is a small click at the top end of clutch pedal when I press it.

if grease can clove the problem, why is there still a tsb for the newer models ?

the TSB has evolved as years went by. From 2016-2019 it updated various parts including the pedal a few times and master cylinder. This TSB actually carries over from the previous gen which had a plastic master cylinder.

Eventually the TSB stopped for a while at 2020, with the updated pedal that has a spot for a bushing for the return spring to ride. This was never the cause of the groan but it was an improvement that made sense to the design regardless. Trucks built after that point all had the new pedal and all the TSB parts which is why 2021 and 2022 didn’t have a TSB. The noises continued because the cause of the noise has still never been addressed by any of the actual changes in the TSB. Now the latest version of the TSB is for all years including 2023 and the only thing that has changed on that TSB vs the other previous versions is they updated the master cylinder part number. The master cylinder itself has never been an issue with pedal groan, so it still serves no purpose.

Essentially, Toyota has thrown a lot of different parts at the clutch setups but none of them really do anything to address the groan. That is why the TSB makes no sense for the noise. IF the TSB solves the noise, then all that means is that the techs used grease where they needed to while replacing the parts. The parts themselves didn’t improve anything. Majority of people who got the TSB eventually report back that the noise returned. That is because the grease used by the techs for the TSB is thin and wears away. It’s the same grease that the factory uses which also goes away eventually which causes the problems to begin with.

If that lithium grease melts away then try the Disc brake grease, it really works.

No money, all went to truck...
greased mine several months ago. Hasn't come back yet. Have 99% of the can of grease waiting for the next reapply.
