ya the squeak, almost groaning sort of noise and you can definitely hear it in the cab...everyone in cab can hear it lol

I thought it would just be the squeak that got fixed but the new clutch arm is actually shaped differently so it changes the whole shifting experience...its a different part not just different better grease. Like Malibu said the clutch is smooth now...no noise no gritty feeling. I almost felt like I used to nurse the clutch and gas pedal couldn't just easily throw it into the next gear.

Not sure if I buy into the super secret grease thing as would that not be what is used when the truck goes down the assembly line? This has been a continuing problem since 2005 when the plastic pedals came out.

Valid point...he really put a TON of that grease on there so maybe that's why mine has stayed so quiet.

Comparing that grease to the disk brake grease it is nothing similar. The white grease on there from the factory is much harder and more "flaky" than oily.

That's awesome that it has stayed quiet, the end result is all that matters!

I’ve always really disliked the clutch and the way the trans shifts on this truck. The only ways I’ve found to upshift without crunching the gears is to either shift at the absolute perfect rpm, shift super fast while starting the gear change slightly before disengaging the clutch, trying to rev match - which is a pita with the drive by wire, or reaching over my lap and shifting with my left hand. Downshifting is damn near impossible sometimes. Maybe this is the fix.

Damn the things you mention almost sound like you are experiencing the stuck in gear problem..is it ever extremely hard to get out of 6th?

Yes I would say try and get this done...my clutch and shifting are super smooth now no lies like I'm amazed in the difference and this is how it should have felt off the lot a year ago.

Yep, I had the tsb for the detent done a while back.

I wonder if the syncro problem in these transmissions is due to this problem.

Interesting...so I also had the detent ball replaced which fixed the stuck in gear. Weird on this TSB its actually been the same TSB since 2005 so why they didn't start with these parts in the 3rd gens who knows...the TSB is 0186-12 had to call Bell Toyota to get the #.

Is that the number for the clutch pedal fix, or detent?

Thanks for this, my clutch pedal was fine until about 21,500mi, now it feels like it’s shifting around under my foot. Not squeaky but makes a little bit of noise sometimes.

Today I took a look, the whole pedal and arm thing has quite a bit of side to side play. Gonna have them look at it at 25k service.

I just had my clutch pedal assembly replaced today. After my 2018 hit 4,000 miles I experienced the creaking clutch. Dealer was good and performed the TBS without any hassle....very pleased with the outcome.

Saw this thread is being posted in again. I sold my manual 2010 and have a manual 2018 now.

For the 2010 I started using Sylglide disk brake grease (after reading about it on TW) and it worked better and more long term than the graphite.

Grease it up with sylglide and DO NOT take it to the dealer. Most of them have no clue with clutches these days and will get everything wrong after they take it apart. Been there done that.

My TSB "fix" started squeaking again after a few days. I felt like an idiot for having my shit torn apart for nothing. In the end, I took it apart again and gresed and assembled it properly.

    Grease is the answer.

Also, I bought a tub of that "super special space grease" that toyota lists on the tsb. $50

I used ALOT of it and here I am with minor squeaking some months later. The sylglide works better according to alot of peeps.
