I've had 5 Tacomas since 1998 and the clutch hangar on all of them squeaked. I just didn't hear it after awhile.

Had my clutch pedal, cylinder, and bushings replaced due to a squeaky clutch about 6 months ago on my 17 Tacoma Pro under warranty. At first they took it apart and added lube only for the problem to return.
Believe there's a TSB out for it.

I still have my squeak come back on hot sunny (>80 degree days) .. Even with a nice lather of brake grease a few weeks ago. I'll probably bring it up to my SA at my 15k

2018 TRD Sport here. 5100 miles. The clutch squeak started about 600 miles ago and has gotten progressively worse. When it is hot outside and inside the truck, it is unbearably loud, especially if I am slowly engaging or disengaging the clutch.

Dealer could not reproduce it so I took the truck out and as soon as it started to squeak, I took a nice video of it. The dealer is getting approvals to do the repair. I hope it fixes it... it is the only blasted thing about the vehicle that bugs me.

I have the same thing, hot humid weather makes it much worse. I recorded with my phone but when I took my truck in for the 15k the technician who did the ride along says he used to have a manual as well that would squeak so he knows how i feel so he's doing the TSB for me tomorrow.

I don’t think this is just a Tacoma thing, but a Toyota thing. I have two older Toyota vehicles with creaky squeaky clutches. I just haven’t bothered to try to grease them yet, but I will with disc brake grease soon. They get this way when it gets hot. Rarely when cold.

I was religiously applying brake grease on it but it just didn't do the job, I even lathered it in one time and itlasted a week or so and back to squeaking...

Wow, sorry to hear that didn't work, I usually push the clutch in with my left hand and use those long wooden Q-Tips to reach up in there with my right, it's important to get that spring too.

Yeah, i put latex gloves on and just started to rub around, haha i have small hands so it was easy but maybe i missed certain spots... it seemed to be squeaking from the piston/plunge area near the rubber boot

that is odd. i used a latex glove and just impacted that grease all in the spring's inside and all around it. i was careful but definitely get it everywhere and somehow didn't make a nightmare mess. the squeak never came back and has been smooth as butter ever since, months ago. i've since removed the spring tho.

How do you like it with the spring removed? Must be better than stock since you still have it out...

Run the heater pointing at the floor. I was able to reproduce it on demand by doing that.

The yanked the pin out and lathered it in grease and after 10k miles it's still fine but I know it'll come back one day.

I did get a permanent fix done on my 2009 at the dealer. The factory rep went to the dealership and repaired it himself. This was after the dealer tried to fix it twice. There hasn't been a squeak in over 9 years!.. The bad news is that he didn't tell anyone what he did to fix it.

Update: The dealer agreed to do the fix for the 2017 (I have a 2018) because they said it looked like the identical problem. They replaced the master clutch cylinder, the pedal (not sure why) and there were fluids to replenish.

It is a hot day, and so far, the clutch is butter smooth. The mesh point is slightly closer to the floor, but not a big deal.

If the problem comes back, I will post again. Thanks to everyone who rang in with their thoughts!

I had my squeky pedal replaced and when I went to pick up the truck, I pressed down on the pedal and my foot just went to the floor. I went back inside and told them that something is still wrong. The mechanic that did the job came out and I explained that the pedal only seemed to engage at about an inch from the floor. There was no way I was gonna be driving around and pushing the pedal loosely about 10 inches waiting for it to engage at the last minute. He took it back in and adjusted it and it was like night and day. Now it has about 3 inches of free play. I'm still not happy with it because it used to be stiff from the second I applied pressure. The mechanic says it must be different to larger cylinder that was replaced?? Idk. I just don't see how he thought it was acceptable to leave it loose like that in the first place.
