I know there are a lot of posts about squeaky tacomas. Here's my situation. The first squeaky noise was a metal on metal sound. Sway bar against the coil. Fixed by adding relocates. I can see the space between sway bar and coil and know it not longer rubs. Not even close.

The other squeak from front end is when turning or going overe bumps. So in my garage I would rock the truck back and forth and squeaky, squeaky. See attached video for noise. Just listen to the squeak.

Got underneath and hard to isolate. Power washed the underside of the front end to spotless clean. Rocked truck next morning and no squeaky squeaky. So I am assuming I need to lube the bushings. Anything else I should look for with this kind of sound?

A friend thinks that maybe the shocks need to be adjusted. Any other ideas?

Also, I have been reading different things about which grease to use or not to use on the bushings. I was just using and all purpose spray grease. That would make the squeak go away for a very short period of time. Should I use something else? Not WD-40.

    Thanks

Check the mount bushing right behind your front bumper. You can see them on the wheel wells. Those tend to squeek, at least on mine they do and took me a min to figure out it was them.

I think there is a TSB for the front bumper mounts? I have the same issue on a 2005 DC, but with more of a metal on metal "clicking". I hear that the bumper mounts break the weld on the aluminum to steel areas. Let me know if you figure it out. Toyota said each one of the two mounts were like 220 Ea.

That pop sounds like a sway bar link or something popping in or out.

I just spent a week offroading and trail running in the Black Hills with my 2012.

On the third day, I developed a squeak on bumps and turns that increased over time.

I spent an evening rocking the truck and lubing bushings to no avail. My wife finally says "It sounds like it's coming from the hood". Sure enough - raise the hood, no squeak. Lower hood, squeak.

    It sounded just like yours.

So, I cleaned up and adjusted the landing feet and gaskets for the hood and the squeak went away.

The doors also started squeaking, but cleaning the dust off the door seals solved that, too.

Yep, the squeaking went away after I greased up all the bushing. I raised the truck and turned the wheels and no clunk sound. I check for movement by grabbing tire and trying to wobble it. All tight. So it is not ball joints. I rechecked the sway bar and relocates. Everything seems fine. Put the truck down and same clunk. Funny thing is, it is not everytime. Hmmm, maybe I will just keep the radio turned up really loud. Hahaha.

Seriously though, how about the CV joints? Saw this as another way to test them.

Start vehicle and turn the wheel to full lock and drive in a circle if you hear any clunking noise then thats telling you that your CV joints are stuffed. Try this in both directions, and listen for any clunking sounds.

    Way to know which one....

Right hand circle - Left CV is worn
Left hand circle - Right CV is worn.

That sounds kind of what is happening.

I know this is a late post, but I have had the same thing going on with my my '13. The dealership couldn't duplicate the problem until I showed them. I realized part of it was the hood, but a technician tightened up the uca bolt, and it went away, only to come back now. I thought I was the only one...

The squeaking is definitely the bottom shock bushing on the front shocks. Greased them up and squeak gone. However it does come back every now and then. So I think I am going to replace them soon.

The popping noise when turning in reverse has disappeared as well. Weird. I didn't do anything to fix it.

This squeak is so anoying , I mainly have it on the drivers side . It's in my lower shock bolt area, started just after I installed 5100's . I've greased the bolt and reinstalled it , but it comes back a week later. Could it be the bushing on the shock? I really don't want to replace them already. I need a cheaper fix , anyone??

I have this same issue. 5100 on stock coils. Looking for answers as well. Very annoying.

Can this be fixed without removing the entire shock assembly? I believe this to be my issue.

I sprayed the lower bolt on the affected shock with lithium spray and it's quiet as a mouse now. I know it won't last forever but hey........a can of spray is cheap.

I just installed 5100's on mine and started to have the same issue only when turning right though. Seems to be coming from the front driver side, hate to have to disassemble everything. R0dzilla75 what type of spray did you end up going with? I know I can turn the radio up and ignore it but knowing the sound is there is just killing me. Anyone else having the same issue or have any other ideas outside of replacing the bushings/lube?

I get a squeaky noise from the passenger side front corner. I had been spraying down the uca bushings with teflon lube along with white grease. It does not seem to help at all. I also have a clunk from the same side. Very pronounced when turning hard left.

Take the wheel off and clean all the nooks and crannies. Mine was attributed to debris. The clunk turning left could be a control arm. Not sure about that one.

Ill try to grease the bushings and joints. After doing much research last night, I found that one of the most common causes of the squeaking when turning is causes from the lower BJ leaking or being worn. Going to try to inject some lube into the BJ and will let you guys know if it helped or not. Also as a side not a common cause of the "clunk" was said to be from the hood either where it latches or the hinges if you try to tighten the bolts and lube the joint many said it cured the problem. Thanks for the info guys!

I sprayed down the lower bolt/bushing of the shock in the corner in questioned. It seemed to have helped some. I will try to take off the wheel & inspect the rest tomorrow

ill have to try the same and see if it helps as well. Would be a lot better than having to try and set new lower BJ's in.
