My leaf springs have been squeaking after going on a dirt road. I was looking up a fix for this on the forums, but didn't seem to find a permanent solution. I brought my truck to get it looked at because it's still under warranty and.. boom they have a fix for it. They installed "silencer pads" between the leaf springs. So far it hasn't made a sound.

It’ll come back even with the “fix”. Get yourself a can of fluid film and spray down the leaves, the silencer pads, and the shackle bolt points. Should keep em quiet for much longer and ward off any potential rust.

Nice. Another "hillbilly" method is to cut up bicycle tire inner tubes, flex out the suspension, and stick them between the leafs.

I think I have this as well. Truck squeaks when I get in and out. Really noticeable in a bumpy parking lot at low speeds too.

Is is actual leaf spring wear/a real safety issue or is it just unacceptable noise?

Just noise. dirt and surface rust between the leaf springs usually.

It's just annoying, and embarrassing.. it's a brand new truck and it squeaks.

You can also spray down your leaf pack with graphite - should do the trick.
