And then you're going to want to make sure you do this kind of research before you buy your next vehicle. This is exactly the kind of thing a little bit of reading could have prevented because leaf springs squeak, end of story. No matter the make, model or price level of the leaf pack, this happens.

And your truck DOES PERFORM off road, it performs just fine. Normal off road use can and will cause leaf springs to make noise. This DOES NOT MEAN your truck is broken, but the noise is merely a product of use and the result of leaf springs inherent engineering. There are many places for earthen material and water to work into the fittings of the leaf springs. absolutely nothing is wrong with it though at a technical level and this is why attempting to sue Toyota, Throwing a tantrum at the Toyota Dealership, or making threats to them (smitty99) wont accomplish a thing.

I'm not trying to sue anyone, I just don't want to have this problem every time I decide to go hunting, I mean if it gets fixed and I run over a mud puddle on the highway i can only hope that it doesn't make noise again. This whole thing is frustrating, I just want a truck that can handle some mud, and yes I understand that leaf springs will make noise, I just hope there is a fix for this in the near future

You're spreading misinformation. I got a warranty thanks to my taking the issues up with corporate. I've owned three other trucks and beat the hell out of them never had a leaf spring issue like this. Once again you're just straight out wrong. You have zero idea what you're talking about.

    Oh really?

Here you are again begging other people to direct message you their on-record complaints about the leafs creaking, so you can "make your case"

https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads/were-your-2016-oem-leaf-springs-replaced-repaired.441054/page-3. That whole thread by you is about the most pathetic thing I ever read. You made half a dozen additional threads where you were demanding Toyota fly techs out directly to you to explain why your leaf springs squeal. Youre out of your mind crazy, and I have no idea on God's earth why you even still own this truck after everything you have done to your self over it.

All this is directly from YOUR mouth that you threatened to get a lawyer if the Toyota dealership didn't fix your non issue. Thats just for the leaf springs alone. A simple search on your name, I literally cant find a single post you have ever made in pertinance to this truck, where you werent absolutly bitching till you are about to turn blue about how bad the 3rd gen Tacoma is or how much that differential howl you imagined totally messed your life up. You went on and on about that like I have never seen someone before.

You're the exact whiny bitch-customer every dealer ship has nightmares about. I literally cant spend time parsing all 6,800 of your posts, 3/4 of which were insane bitching about a "howling" in your differential. You have warrantied or spoke directly with corporate about no less than 5 seperate parts from what I can tell. And it was YOU who was wrong because it was never differential, but the air passing through the perforated lower control arm the entire time.

In case you havent noticed a pattern, its not your truck thats the problem, Its you.

:rant:TLDR. Proof is in the pudding, chief. There's an official published Tech Tip out there to address this issue and Toyota has attempted to resolve it for me and many others several times. It's not some figment of our imagination but you go ahead and hold onto your deluded perspective.

I've driven almost every 4X4 vehicle in production from the 1960's on up, in really tough conditions from Northwestern Ontario to the Yukon, and none of them, none, ever made a squeak. My first Hi Lux, in 1980, had springs front and rear, with an AAL, and I used to regularly submerge it in a beaver pond getting into my favourite hunting spot - no squeaks in 200K. Rusty as heck, if anything should have squeaked, it should have been it. Maybe I'm just lucky, because squeaking springs would drive me absolutely crazy. I feel sorry for the guys with this problem, and I can totally understand why they want it fixed.
It might be worth experimenting with some high quality replacement leafs in every second spring. I have an ICON progressive AAL on my 2015, and it works great. No Squeaks. Even if Toyota doesn't warranty the work, who cares? Its not expensive, and would be better than taking a loss on selling your truck because you can't stand the squeaking any more. Toyota's are great vehicles, well designed and built, but one thing they don't well is metallurgy. From rusted panels and frames through the years, its obvious that their steel is junk. Maybe that soft crummy steel in the springs is causing squeaks. Put in some other alloys and see what you get. Don't count on Toyota to fix this. What they will do is manage the problem not fix it.

I like the tech tip. I used to flex the truck a little to separate the leafs on one side then use a pressure washer.

I haven't climbed under the new truck to look but if there's no contact padding between ALL the leafs on both sides of the leaf a piece of bicycle innertube shoved between them has provided a remedy on other trucks.

LOL you see that ya lunatic!?!?

I bet a simple google search coulda fixed that one for ya. See this whole time you coulda cut up a few $1.99 bmx-tubes and put them in-between your leafs, instead of demanding Toyota Fly an engineer out to your dealership to calm you down. I bet it would a been cheaper and less time consuming than calling your lawyer too.

and no, instead they gathered up complaints on a message board in a dedicated thread https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads/were-your-2016-oem-leaf-springs-replaced-repaired.441054/page-3. to prepare a legal case against Toyota for leaf spring squeaking. Smitty99 is a raving lunatic, https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads...thering-throttle.442341/page-96#post-14126732
and has no less than 3 separate litigations moving forward against Toyota and various dealerhips for the "noises" the Tacoma makes through its perforated lower control arm and at the leaf spring. These people were demanding Toyota give them brand new differentials in their truck, until some user came in the thread and showed them the lower control arm has small perforations in it than can make air howl as it passes through it

I think its worth finding out if the dealership could install the leaf liners. They may not warranty them, but at least it could solve the issue and get you off their back.

please. I'm new because I didn't comment until I actually owned a 3rd gen. And I'll never understand meritless, elitist stuff like "post count" "or hurr durr newb", especially since a whole ~12 months separate all of us.

To that end, it took all of a single month of browsing to identify the resident chode-in-chief (Smitty99), so save your passive aggressive safe-space stuff. No ones banned me, and I don't break rules. Lurked for an entire model year in silence, as smitty99 had melt-down after meltdown, one after the other over literal non-issues with the Tacoma. I put 4k miles of experience in the truck, and decided put my $.02 in on the endless complaining about Non-existent Tacoma problems.
