Was able to get the rest of the spindle out with a lot of grinding and some quality time with a BFH. Got a little over ambitious and put a few nicks in the main face of the bumper though:

OK, so here's the tentative plan. Was happy to see a fairly heavy walled piece of DOM already in the main 2x6 piece of the bumper. It has an ID of 1 1/4". So, I'm going to ditch the bearings, find some bushings that fit in the swingout and a 1 1/4" bolt. Going to make it as dual sheer as possible (1 & 3/4 sheer this time maybe :p) with some 1/4" steel at a 90* angle and a top piece ( think 3 out of 6 sides of a box) sitting on the top of the 2x6. Think I'm going to order two bolts as well to have a spare....

All I need are a few quick welds better than I can do and I should be all set.

Do you have a 120v welder?

    OK, tentative plan number two.

Looks like I'll have a hard time removing the pressed in sleeve and races that are currently in my swingout, as well as finding bushings that fit. So, I need to find 2" of 1 1/4" OD 1" ID tubing and use a 1" bolt instead of a 1 1/4". And then just reuse the bearings.

Yeah, just want to get this thing fixed, and won't be back down on the front range until the start of the semester in a month.

Yeah, I only screw around with a HF 120V welder. I wouldn't trust it for anything important. As you can see above, I've got plenty of people willing to help, they're just 180 miles away at the moment.

Nice. I got a new forney 230 v welder that says it can weld 5/16" but when I was welding up my friends rock sliders it kept overheating and tripping it's safety switch like every 30 seconds. It's retarded it's a 25% duty cycle so it should do 2 1/2 minutes straight. Does yours have any issues like that?

I like that. Especially because it started with "cut that shit off". Some of mans greatest achievements began with those very words.

Full trip report from the last trip where the swingout broke for those who missed it:

    https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads/alpine-loop-and-ouray-area-7-22-7-26-15.384583/

Got some little hardware in. Let's see if I can break this setup. All I need now is about a 4" piece of 2" .25" wall DOM.

Also picked up a piece of UHMW to try and rework how my swingout gets captured. This should be happening next week, along with one other project :spy:

$130 china snorkel installed this evening with some help from @Night Eagle

    This was a bit unnerving:

Pretty happy with how it turned out. Never would have ponied up for an ARB/Safari, but this one is certainly in the budget.

Fits quite well really, especially considering it was made for a hilux. Have the same small gap in the front as everyone else, but seems to be smaller than others have pictured.

Also, I know you brought this up in Brian's build, so I'm guessing you're wondering. I went ahead and ditched the flimsy rubber tube supplied with the snorkel. It's really soft, and I don't think spiral coat hangers inside it like others have done is a very great fix. So, I cut and rotated the stock intake, with only left about an inch gap to span with the tube:

Lol, not sure about danger, but there is definitely a look of "get it done before the neighbors rat me out for doing maintenance in the parking lot" going on here.:D

Snorkel looks good. Link to the one that you got? That'd cheap enough to make me want one.
