Two sets of wheels and tires are the only way to get the best of both worlds. Any MT is horrific in the snow and ice. Combine that with as much as I drive on snow packed and icy roads, and MTs in the winter are a definite no-go.

    Poor tires.

You could mount the resis to the bucket gussets like I did once you get them on.

The way I look at it you save money in the long run. Winter tires are way cheaper then your wheeling tires, so you keep miles off good summer tires.

Then again, not many people live in as snowy of climate as I do. A good AT will suffice for most. I've heard good things about the ST Maxx.

Hopefully I can make a set of tires last. Feel pretty confident in my ability to get the alignment fairly close using the method I did this weekend. Also, putting way fewer commuter miles on these days.

Coil bucket gussets got pushed to the back burner for now. If I get a little more confidence in my welding, I'll burn a set on at some point this summer. Might be able to integrate a resi mount into them.

True true but with my st maxx they should last around 40,000 before I even think about getting new tires and its my daily constantly driving on asphalt. I think mine almost have 25,000 on them and I am still at like 10 or 11/32 which new is like 15 or something

Having a proper welder is so nice.

Current project I'm hoping to finish shortly so I can test it this weekend.

Next project I need to finish before heading off to Utah :spy:

So are you just gonna weld the bottom of the bumpstop contraption to the built plate?

I'm going to drill and tap the U-bolt top plate and bolt them on.

Food for thought, but this is how ADS mounted my Resi's when they had my truck. Cleared 255/85's with 4.75" backspacing and cleared 315/75's with 4.5" of backspacing.

    Sweet build by the way!

Please please PLEASE get a bigger latch for the swingout. You'll regret getting that one.

Pretty sure he's been using that one for the past year after the smaller one broke.

I'll be bringing the saw for sure, but I'm afraid the chainsaw mount got demoted in favor of two Scepter cans. Will work on that tonight, but doubt I can finish it. Hoping to get off work early.

    o_O See below.

That is a 2,000lb latch and it's been welded on there for nearly a year.

Finally put some offroad miles on the truck this weekend. Gears and suspension are awesome offroad. Pretty happy that my rear bumps are working perfectly too.

Only a few things I need to address. Spindle gussets decided they wanted to do some self-clearancing to the coil bucket:

Also bananaed the shit out of my mid skid. Need to bend it back down away from the T-case.

Should be finishing up a few projects this week and weekend, and be Utah bound a week from Friday. :goingcrazy:

'Do it right the first time, or do it twice.' Or in my case, three or four times.

They're incredible! Spent a lot of time on some faster moving forest roads, all of which were spent with a huge smile on my face. Was hitting stuff at three times the speed I could with my OMEs, and even then it was still way smoother.

650lb coils felt just right. Superbumps were working nicely. Couldn't be happier. Was surprised the rear kept up as good as it did as well. Leaving well enough alone there for the time being.
