As the subject says I have a somewhat intermittent squealing noise while I'm driving.

    01 Tacoma
    3.4l V6
    Auto

    Heres what I know:

-squeals at around 2500-2800 rpms (approximate)

-always at that rpm, speed doesnt matter whether its 20 or 70 mph

-only happens while I'm on the gas coasting (not when accelerating or decelerating just cruising. (goes away if I accelerate or come to a stop.)

    _________

Has anyone had this problem, or could maybe point me in the right direction to fix this squeel?

    TIA guys

Had this happen to me. It was a loose heat shield exhaust right by the catalytic converter. Tighten it up and it's gone.

I am hearing sqeaking noise, mechanic wants to inspect timing belt and water pump replacement :(. That is going to cost a lot. I am hoping it is a small issue.

dang that could be my problem too!

I finnally crawled under and tightened some heatshield bolts, I'll update if it seems to have gone away after a few days of listening!

    UPDATE:

just crawled under my truck a few days ago and randomly tightened the heatshields that sit above the exhaust pipe itself...

no squealing since...I'll update again if it comes back or something.
