And then your differential runs dry on oil from the leak you never saw or got fixed. Wish I was joking.

Bioshield is good stuff.
Get your highlift jack and jack up the rear by the trailer hitch. Just before the tires lift then wash out the leaves. Jacking up will take tension off the springs allowing the water in. Make sure your squeek isnt the body mount bushings especially the fronts. There have bee some issues from the buishings reported on this site.

 

This thread is hilarious. I cannot believe the divide between the "suck it up buttercup" types and the "this squeaking is some BS" types (like me). I guess my problem really lies in the fact that I watched the Toyota episode of Top Gear one too many times. They ran the truck into a tree, a block wall, down concrete stairs, sunk it in the ocean tide, set it on fire, etc. and it just kept on running. I went out on a 20 minute mud-slinging fest and my truck squeaked like it had been through the aforementioned punishment.

One more thing for those of you that keep saying "add a lubricant"....The Toyota service advisory actually warns the technicians AGAINST doing this. The claim is that the lubricant actually attracts dust/debris over time. So, I am not sure this is good advice, even if it works in the short-term.

I'm not mad, or whining. The dealer got the truck fixed (albeit he may have punched the wall in the process) and I am back to rolling with no noise.

One more thing, I did:
1. Pressure wash my leafs (and the entire underside of my truck) after the squeak was noticed.
2. The first trip to the dealer my truck DID receive the spray lubricant suggested by some, here.
3. I did also, lower and raise (to snug) my spare tire, just to make sure.

The squeak never went away with all of this, it only went away with the last trip to the dealer. I do not have a lift at home so I am confined to laying on the ground and doing work in that way. If I need to do much more than that, then I am calling foul and reverting to the opinion that this is a design flaw and should therefore be covered under the warranty.

I am guilty of:
1. Taking my truck off-road (in the mud)
2. Letting it sit for 3 days before doing the above prescribed fixes.

And to the guy that said that I got 30k miles with no problem and went off-road once and the problem occurred-->therefore I am at fault...

What if you bought a handgun. You shot it and cleaned it afterwards every time for three years. One day you were busy and shot it, but did not have time to take out the barrel, oil it down, etc. The next time you fired it it jammed. Is this the handgun you want at your side when your life depends on it? Yes, you are "supposed" to clean it after each use, but that is what makes an over-engineered piece so much more valuable. It works when you DON'T do all of that stuff.

Maybe this post will add a little more kindling to this fire of a post. Now to get some popcorn.

A jammed gun is a catastrophic failure. Squeaky springs is an annoyance.

Don't get me wrong, I totally understand what you're saying and you make a good point. I just don't think this is a warranty issue.

There is a squeak issue, it's posted all over this forum. A lot of people on here feel the need to belittle anyone who has a valid complaint, instead of trying to offer something useful. But that's typical of any forum. Like most people mention, leaf spring have a tendency to squeak but Toyota seem to squeak more than normal. And I say this from experience owning 7 pickupscover the years, 3 being toyotas. They squeak the worst. You just learn to deal with it and buy a bunch of spray lube doesn't hurt.

 

Then don't spray around your diff, but your frame rusting out around you might win before a leaky diff lol

And you. First of all, again, you took it off road, welcome to squeaks. My God, end of the world stuff right there.
Also, your metaphor is a bit off. The correct metaphor would be if you shot your gun, didn't clean it for three days, then shot it again and it developed a very light squeak WHEN YOU SHOOT IT. Your vehilce isn't disabled. The only true way to stop the squeak is as mentioned above, there's a mod to separate the leafs completely and clean them out and add rubber in between, which still only lasts a short while. You've now created a dirt layer in between them that no amount of washing will remove unless you break down the leaf pack. Even then, the paint is probably already flaking off (which happens regardless of off-road, it just exacerbates it) so now you've got metal on metal leaves with nothing in between. Squeak city. "Suck it up buttercup" seems apt if a bit vulgar. Quit blaming Toyota for something you did to your own truck.
