I don’t think there’s anything wrong with the leafs, and the dealer is being proactive because there’s warranty money left in the truck. He may not be so proactive if the problem returns.

Mine don’t squeak or squat (about 20k on the clock) and never have since new.
But mine came off the line with properly torqued U-bolts, and all drive angles are correct.
I don’t see a wide spread problem with the leaf or any of the rear suspension components, in fact they all appear to be top notch oem, therefore I’ll be surprise if Toyota recalls any parts or components there to address this issue.
But I do suspect that a number of them may not be properly torqued at the factory, maybe or possibly because they are made in the same line as the Tundras and torque values may have or may get changed during the change over, but that’s just speculation on my part because if it were a part issue more of us would be having same problems.

Word to the wise, check those U-bolt and U-joint bolts for proper torque, or have someone you trust use a torque wrench because the dealer more likely won’t be doing it during the scheduled maintenance….It sucks, I know..

    Hope that helps!
    Cheers!

What a pain in the ass, that I have to do this crap on a Toyota...

Really would rather spend my time elsewhere, but, ya, I hear you. I want to protect my investment.

Interesting you say warranty money left on the table. I wonder what each Tacoma has, and if it's a pain to go over that threshold if anything else happens while under warranty.

Me too! I want to be at the dealership as much as I want to be at a funeral, bad scene.

Warranty money last i heard can be anywhere from $600-1000+ on a new vehicle but not everyone uses the warranty.
I’ve gone well over 150k+ miles on a dozen of them and never touched it, except for my last 13yr old T4R with almost 200k when they put a new dash after 13yrs because of cracking.
But not all of them had the issue and that is all that was ever warranted so if the others were as well put together as mine, they had tons of warranty money left over.

We’ll have to see on these trucks though, lots of complaints here. But so far, at least on mine, Toyota is wining.

    Cheers!
