it is either the serpentine belt, or the clutch on the fan...mine does is every once and awhile, definitely the fan clutch, but since it happens maybe a dozen times a year, I just ignore it...

Or power steering pump. When cold. Mine is an 02 and on cold starts my power steering pump squeals or if the fluid is low it will squeal.

Mine's been doing this as of late pretty sure it's the belts on mine. Weird thing is it usually will do it only after sitting in the heat all day.

Have someone standing there ready to toss a quart of water or so on the belts. Hit the key, wait for the squeal,,then toss the water on them. If the squeal goes away immediately,,you need belts or you need to scuff your pulleys and reset the belt tension. If the squeal remains after the water douse,,well,, time to dig deeper.

If you do decide to replace the belts,,scuff the pulley drive surfaces anyways with some emery cloth and paitence. Your breaking the old rubber glaze off of those surfaces which if not removed,,can cause a brand new belt to squeal indifferent to the tension set. The emery scuff will give the pulleys traction on that new belt and no squeal ever if done right. A spray of brakeclean after emery scrubbing, let them dry, apply belts, set tension.

Examine the belts, the undersides. If they look cracked then it's probably time to replace them. You could also try some spray grease to try and help, but it wouldn't leave it like that for too long.

Maybe a little loose or a bad pulley?

The first hint of squeal needs to be checked and adjusted asap. It only gets worse if one chooses to ignore. Never really heard or had one that fixed itself from squealing,,other than the water toss,,and that's just a few seconds.

Fresh belts have been known to take out a high mileage idler pulley bearing. A constant noise for a bit,,till it seizes. Not just limited to the idler pulley. The whole family of high mileage bearings on the front get loaded with new tension, including your crankshaft snout bearings.

Just adding more tension to remove a squeal causes belt stretch obviously,,till it returns again possibly. Reset,,squeal comes back,,reset again, squeal comes back. A vicious circle till failure,,then it can get real nasty ($$$).

Mine squeals only when it's really cold like 10 and below. It does it for 2 minutes warming up and goes away. Never thought anything of it.

Most likely one of the belts. Could be a pulley though.

One of the things to check is, with the engine off, press on the belts. If one feels looser than the others, probably the culprit.
