They are fast little bastards too. Hard to get a clean shot, no meat on them at all. Need like 20 for a burger.

A back brake trap is the best way to go. Kills instantly. The problem is they don’t care what they kill. Squirrels, chipmunks, neighborhood cats, your drunken fingers. It’s all the same to them. Don’t put them where your grand daughter can get to them when they are set.

Got it! We are definitely on to a plan here. Maybe if they start another nest i will just burn them out to make an example.

I have heard if you burn a freshly killed rat in a fire and spread the ashes around your garden it will keep them out. Obviously I don’t mean cover your truck in ash but depending on where you park it might be useful info.

I was toying around with the idea of turning this into a rat trap. Beef up the weight with a spring and set up a noose neck brake. Kill the little bastard and toss him into the neighbors yard6DACF30A-0BDC-47D4-AC27-0B04DED91A23.jpg

Don't worry too much. This was a nest of babies that I even got video of. They had a few days to cause trouble.

Good point, I’ll try removing the feet next time I serve them. I wonder if this is why I don’t get invited to pot luck suppers much.

35A3F01C-FE47-405F-81B9-2A816E2C2C24.jpg Shooting them wont help, gesh, sounds like there’s a whole forest full of them where OP lives. We use cayenne pepper to successfully keep woodrats and rabbits out - wet the entire engine bay and sprinkle it everywhere. Repeat every few weeks as needed.

But you may need to do this if there are a lot of squirrels, as they can chew those wires under the truck as well- its porcupine proofing with chickenwire for hikers that park overnight in BC and Washington parks.

OP- maybe make a truck parking pen out of chickenwire if it continues- that repair is going to cost a grand or more, sorry about that!!

Looks nice! OP could use that idea and make it larger for his squirrels, like this. Someone has to design a auto-reloader version of it though.:

I’ve seen that before. Damn near fell out of my chair laughing. A rope to an eye bolt in the bottom of the fence to your seat. Pull reset repeat. Better have a big cooler because I’d be in a seat next to you loosing it.

So Toyota, Ford, Subaru and some others use a soy based wiring harness to help in the landfills, and squirrels love it. 511 bucks to fix mine this last winter, in my F150
