To all who have replaced the chain link fence TRG style grille with the SR. Did yours look jet black more so then matte black. I thought it would match the fenders and front bumper a little bit better honestly.

I think it looks good. About the only thing to do is spray it.I ordered an SR grill for my truck, went to pick it up today and they ordered a 2015. I will get the correct one Monday….I hope.

Toyota says that the over fenders and lower bumper piece is black, but it's not; it's gray. The SR grill is black. The SR5 grill matches everything, but it has chrome surround.

Is there an issue with the 2016 grille design?

I haven't heard or read any complaints at all.

I like mine, on my white Tacoma is looks nice. My eye sees it as almost a charcoal chrome on a white truck than just flat out chrome.

It's very noticeable from the OP's pic:
    DSC_0853_zpsvgobblh7_1487fa64eb2b993207df58e2d5e44e47a7c877a6.jpg
    and here:

SR5 kinda of hard to see, but the plastic color matches much closer if not exactly to the lower bumper and plastic overfenders:

In the second pic of the SR, would you say the lower trim piece where the fog lights go is glossy like the grill. Or the same as the other models. hard to tell.

I think the fog light trim is non-gloss black, which is different then both the lower bumper (dark gray, non-gloss) and the SR grill (Black gloss). However, I do think it's a closer match to the lower bumper than the SR grill as seen in pic 1.

My pic was directly out of the box. So it sounds like either paint the grill to match the gray or the chrome to match. I'll prolly stick with the SR or spray it. Have no clue what color to spray it. I will say I was quite surprised at the ease of install of these grilles. Literally two screws and two pop stoppers. 5 mins

Here's a pic I took last week. This shows that the fog light trim is not gloss like the grill. Good enough for me. I want to keep the factory finish, I think it will hold up better in the long run.

Just regular old black plasti dip...is it a perfect match to the flat oem plastic? No, but pretty darn close...close enough nobody realizes I coated it

Have you tried hitting everything with some Meguiar's ultimate black? I haven't been able to check out the black parts on mine yet. It has been pouring since I got it.
