I'm looking for buy a new taco. i want access cab, 2wd and auto. i will be using it 90% for commuting driving around town. 10% time for hauling stuff and for my business nothing heavy no towing.

i cant make up my mind Between a SR or trd sport. Im not considering a SR5 because there is almost no price difference for me between SR5 and TRD sport. price difference is about $7000 to $7500 between the SR and TRD sport which isnt a bit deal

i work at toyota dealer service department drive and see many of these daily both 4cyl and V6 honestly cant really tell too much of a difference in the power. they are both very slow. i would like the V6 a bit extra power to get me out of a pinch if needed. i really like the interior of the SR very simple all blacked out no flashy colors. On the other hand, the TRD has push/auto start, i like the hood scoop and it has better headlight w/LED DRL. But im not feeling the decked out interior with all the silver. the instrument cluster and radio screen its just in your face a bit too much to look at everyday.

I really wish toyota had made a SR access cab V6, it would make my desicion much easier

It sounds like the SR would be the better choice for you?

Folks like me with all the stupid chrome have SR envy:

Also, just saying, the V6 is pretty quick if you wind it up.

utiliy package would not work i need the rear seats. 4cyl is more than enough for what i need, but V6 does have more punch which is what i want. thats why im debating

I went with the SR because of price. I used this website for most of my upgrades. I also liked the SR because it didn't have the wheel well fender extensions. Go for the V6 if you need the power but the 4 is fine for what I need. My truck is a SR with the painted bumpers and rear slider. With the tires and wheels included I have $1500 in upgrades on top of what I paid for the truck. It beats the hell out of what I would have paid for an SR5gasser nats 2017 116.jpg or TRD. Good luck with what you decide to do.

For that much price difference, I would go SR. Like Tonnerd, I hate all the chrome on my OR. Yet, I don't like the Pro grill, either. I will try to find an SR/SR5 front grill.

If only the Pro grille was still flush, it would look a lot better to me. Thankfully, I have seen a few derped Sport / OR grilles. It is exact what I want.

if that's price difference, get SR, spend 1000 on different suspension, like old man emu?
I'm probably going old man emu after the stock billies go on the TRDOR. I like my friends' old man emu set up.
looks like with 7500 you can get what you need much cheaper. If it's a daily driver, I'd be more concerned with quiet road biased tires and a better suspension.
I agree with you. I opted for TRD/OR because the SR5's around here are bloated with crap and sell for about the same price as a sport or OR.

No offense to the other BRM Tacoma owners on here, but this is the best looking Barcelona Red Tacoma I've seen, and also the best use of the TRD OR/Sport grill.

$7k is a lot of coin, especially if you don't mind a basic truck. The hood scoop is fake and gets in the way for visibility. I traded mine off.

I bought mine for towing. I wanted a V6 MT ACLB....so sport was what I got. But like I said...I ditched the hood and stuck an SR grill in to get rid of the giant chrome grill. I do like the infotainment system though.

between the I4 and V6, how much gas mileage difference for 70% free way driving?

Extra $7k is ok if i get what i want. But seems like im going backwards with stuffs i dont like or would never use to just get a V6 motor.

My vote goes SR and use the 7500 for the upgrades you want. If you want to do a small lift and upgrade suspension, do 5100's and an AAL or block. if you want nav, get it from another deck. right there, maybe a little over 1 k if you do the labor.

I got the TRDOR and love it, but sometimes i wish I just got the SR and did the upgrades I did. But i do have off road cruise control (crawl control) and a rear diff.... h ave i ever used them? nope lol

SR without a doubt. Unless you find a leftover SR5 or TDR for a deep discount.

It sounds like you and I are in the same boat. I bought my SR is sept 2016 and it was a great call. I looked at the SR, SR5 and TRDSport and left with an SR. 99% of its life has been carting me around town, gas mileage is good, I can throw stuff in the bed as needed. And I got a ridiculous deal because where I live, no one wants an SR
