Temp control will not work if you do not have the interface already in the vehicle, and I am not sure if it works even if you do have them on Taco's. Maybe someone else can confirm.

I put an XM radio in my 2015 Base Tacoma and just used a cheap XM ant of eBay that had a magnetic base. Left it attached to the flatter portion of the hood near the factory ant mast and ran the wire through an extra factory grommet there in the firewall. Worked like a champ. Ended up the plug was wrong and I was able to take the plugs plastic end off and just secure the XM wire connector right onto the head unit plug. It's like a mini coax cable.

I'm really looking at a DC SR Taco and would like to have the factory SR5 head unit with the XM, don't really need the upper model when the lower one will do.

I'm trying to confirm that now if you get the upgraded SR5 radio does it have to come with flares, lol...

I just don't wanna drop the money on the SR5, just bein honest.

I put the SR5 Radio pictured in my post into my SR, but to get the clock and XM to work I had to order a gps antenna(cheap on Ebay). Had to buy a magnectic XM antenna and 2 harnesses to make it all work. I don't know if the HD traffic and weather work cause I don't have that where I live. But the XM works great. All the other functions on the radio also work.

I got mine from here, but it was 35 dollars. Just have to find one with the same plug as the radio.
Look at this on eBay http://www.ebay.com/itm/282536587814

This is one of the harnesses I used to plug into the back for the XM antenna. Had to modify it a little, notch was on the opposite side.

This one also. It plugged into the above harness and then into the magnetic XM antenna. Had to be modified a little also.

I was able to score the GPS antenna from a Tundra as listed on eBay for less than 60 bucks last year.

Guess I should have hung onto it hugh!

Bluetooth to phone works great with Android Auto and Carplay. Why wouldn't it.
    Pioneer is awesome.
However I always interface with the usb connector to the radio.

This could help anyone looking for the cheapest alternative for both GPS and XM antennas.

    Either 2nd or 3rd gen.

This is the second time I've done the XM antenna using this guy, I just carefully snip/slice the pink end off the mini coax and the coax slips right into the radio coax.

If there is a harness out there to mate this end to the factory black end on the XM unit I am all ears.

Mine has never come lose on me so it works for me.

On my 2015 I let it sit in the flat part of the hood next to the radio antenna and there is a firewall pass through just under the hood right there. Just run the XM cable into your cab and it'll be to the right of your glove box. Just be careful and don't kink the cable when your pulling it all through as you'll have some extra.

This is the adapter cable from Toyota that I was able to get online for under 40.00 shipped. It's mentioned above and it a fantastic deal as now your just looking for a GPS antenna with the square shaped grey plug.

I also took a gamble on the plug end matching up with a different Toyota GPS or actually a Lexus GPS unit from an LS460, scored off eBay for 40.00 shipped via best offer.

I took a pic of the part number, I figured if it's good enough for an 80K+ sedan it's sure good enough for my Tacoma!

    They clip together perfectly!

Wow, you can't beat GPS success for under 85.00!

The radio is a 3rd gen, 2017 model. Everything matches. Only thing that didn't work on radio was HD weather and traffic. I don't have that in my area..

Kind off/on topic; How much different is the screen quality on the SR radio vs the SR5? Toyota advertises on their website the SR comes with Entune Audio with a "6.1-in. touch-screen display" whereas the SR5 shows the Entune Audio Plus with a "6.1-in. high-resolution touch-screen display"

    Hmm,

I can't tell a difference in my 2015 Base unit display and my 2015 XM/HD radio display,

I can say I can definitely tell a difference in sound quality though, minor but it sounds better none the less.

Guess when I get into the SR DC I'll keep my antennas and XM and just try and source a 2016 or newer radio as I'm pretty sure the backlighting is different. :(

Don't forget now though some SR5 trucks are getting the Entune Audio Plus and have the full flat screen like you would find in a TRD trimmed truck.

Infotainment (formally oem parts) sells all the antennas, harnesses, etc for the swap. I just bought GPS and XM antennas for my SR to SR5 swap today for $119.00.
