Not certain myself. One of the guys on Tundras added it and it was a deal for sure. The sensors, which are not the sonar dots, are not cheap either. I think they were over $500 for each one.

Agreed. I had a 16 Offroad I bought new and traded it in on a new 23 Pro last April. I paid 48500 for it. Just for fun, cause I lost my mind and was looking at a Tundra, and did the Carvana offer deal and was offered 51200. I have 4300 miles on my Pro, but I love it more than my Offroad that I had installed a Dobinson lift and 4.88 gear in.

The parts I can scrounge up, I'm just not sure how to update the software. Usually in the factory we program these on a table with panels and the software gets written to the vehicle. Anytime we have to add/replace bsm systems the software has to be readded

I have a bad neck as well.
My Sport has the tea package, and I can say the rear cross traffic alert is wonderful.
Especially backing out of a stall when a van has parked next to you.

Having said this would be an unwise financial decision, I should follow that some financial decisions are emotional, and that's OK. The heart wants what the heart wants brother! Just don't go crazy. :)

The 360 camera system can be either something you don't care about at all or think is a gamechanger. I've honestly used mine more for city parking than going offroad and it gives me a lot more precision maneuvering my truck with it than I can manage ion more work truck without it. I don't really use BSM on the highway but the cross lane assist function for detecting incoming vehicles when backing up has been a pretty nice extra line of safety, while I don't ever rely on it it's alerted me to stuff before I could see vehicles coming and a couple times when I was tired and less vigilant it may well have averted near misses. Radar cruise control and collision safety I can honestly live without and wouldn't miss.

As a Pro owner who recently removed his suspension go to a heavier duty setup who daily drives an SR5 for work, the pro suspension is a major upgrade over an SR/SR5 in every way - the only caveat I'd say is don't get a Pro if you plan to lift higher than stock from Day 1 because you'll only make the suspension worse by muddling with it since it's so optimized for the factory setup. I spent a year and a half with a Wescott lift after two years on a 2020 Pro stock, and it rode better before lifting IMO and knowing what I know now about lift setups and how my eventual use case has evolved I'd have skipped doing it in retrospect if I'd known I'd change my mind and want more from my suspension than it had from the factory.

I’m biased. I love my SR. My previous 4-Runner was a Limited V8. Absolutely a stellar vehicle. My Dad’s 4-Runner is a TRD, and I don’t think he even remembers how to use the locker. I still think it’s a great vehicle. There’s just something elemental and basic about it. It feels like it’s from 30-40 years ago in all the right ways. I even like screwing with the shifter to make it shift when I want it to. It’s purely personal preference though. You can’t go wrong with either choice. The new one would have a vanity mirror on the passenger side! That would be the deciding factor for my wife. She hates that aspect of the SR. That and I’m always jacking around with the shifter, and I refuse to drive our RAV anywhere.

I bought a SR (2019 with 128k miles for $24k, no idea if that's a good deal or not because values are crazy on these trucks), and I'll save the money I would have spent on a nicely optioned one for mods. Plus I can get an access cab which is hard to find or not offered in higher trims.

I've only had two cars with fog lights, but I never found them to be useful (even in actual fog). The stock lights are fine, and I can add aftermarket lights if I want. I am considering upgrading to factory LEDs, but it's not really worth the cost for how little I drive at night. Maybe in the winter I'll change my mind (and think about heated seats).

Some of the de-contenting in the SR is annoying (no tire pressure readout? That would cost $0 for Toyota to add), but there's nothing I really need from the higher trims that would be hard to add. A front camera would be nice, but it sounds like it can be added. The small screen is kind of terrible for cameras though.

I thought I might miss Crawl Control/ATRAC, but the traction control in 4 Low has gotten me up everything I need to far. I'd have less wheel spin with the upgraded system, but on a recent challenging rock off road trip there were only two or three times when I had any wheel spin/slip.

I'm going to add air lockers eventually, and some off road armor. I'm also considering extensive suspension mods. I'd be hesitant to ruin a $40k+ truck with mods, but at $24k it's not so bad.

LEDs do not make the same heat as halogens ... regarding winter. A less expensive option for headlights is replacing the H11 with H9 bulbs (just remove the green insert for the the H9 to fit) ... not LED-bright but better than H11.

I did just that. Easy to do. Cheaper than paying for it in an upgrade package. Ya can't tell I did it myself.

Personally, I wouldn't. I bought my SR new in 2020. I've added front camera, fog lights, steel bumper, winch, upgraded suspension, dual battery system, armor...the list goes on. Doing the work myself, I've got a highly capable of road truck with less invested than a TRD.
