SR5 Appearance Package Required?

I met with dealer, and trying to get the price down somewhat I asked for a quote on an SR5 V6 Access Cab without the SR5 Appearance Package. As far as I can tell this package only includes silver alloy wheels, overfenders and auto-dim rear-view mirror.
But dealer said this package was required on the SR5. I asked why the brochure listed the package under "Options", and he said something about different parts of the country require different things. I am in NJ. Is this really true? Is SR5 Appearance Pakage really required for an SR5 V6?

 

Could be a requirement based on your region.
Best way to know for sure is to build your truck using Toyota website and enter your zip.

Thanks. I checked the builder on the Toyota site. It turns out the Appearance package is required for the black & red interior, but not the gray. That looks to be the only restriction. Not sure if the dealer didn't know or was trying to be tricky.

 

One thing I noticed regarding the build tool on Toyotas site. It seems to vary by region and what they are currently building. There are combos that said they were unavailable one week (which I assumed it just wasn't available at all) to where the same combo is available the next week. Very strange.

 

There are loads of SR5'S out there with no appearance pkg.Be willing to bet he's a typical salesman that doesn't know what he's selling..

 

Don´t fall for it. He either doesn´t know or is trying to trick you. By the time you add the ¨appearance package¨ you are almost paying for a TRD Sport. Go to toyota´s website, try different zip codes, find what you like, try cars.com and search for the distance you are willing to travel, but don´t fall for that line, ¨it is required.¨

 

I reserved a SR5 and was offered to order with or without the appearance package.

 

Simply... No, it's not. You can specially order one without the package.

I ordered a SR with no packages at all. It can be done, but have to order it.

 

I believe you are only able to get the sr5 without the appearance package on limited colors. For example, if you want silver, you need the appearance package.

 

This is dependent on what´s available in your area. I can go to Toyota.com and build an SR5 in any color without the appearance package, except for Quicksand. Try different zip codes, the build site is set up strange.

 

No Package on mine. In fact everyone he had did not have it. It wasn't a big deal to me as I was going to replace the tires and wheels anyway. Don't miss the flares or the mirror.
