Missing My Last Tacoma --- Had 11 Toyota trucks in the past and many other Toyota cars too.
    .
Had several Tundra's & Tacoma's in the past ... and this is my first SR5 and I love it ... especially for the price.

Basically, I am very happy with my choice of a Gen. 3. There have been a few small things ... but for a first year model ... Toyota has done a very good job IMO.

It usually takes about 3-4 years before a new Tacoma platform gets "semi-bug-free".

Compare that to some other mid-size trucks that never get "semi-bug-free".

The SR5 is one of the best mid-size trucks on the market, especially for the money.

I bought a ... SR5 (Sky Silver) ... AccessCab/LongBed ... 4x2 ... V-6 ... Automatic Transmission ... Decent Entune with Sirius-XM (not JBL) ... OEM Tow Package (w/ aux. coolers) ... Window Tint ... Front End 3-M Wrap (that I will take off) ... Door Edge Guards ... OEM Bed Mat (6' bed) ... WeatherTechs (front & rear) ... UnderCover SE (6' bed) ... Wet-Okole's (with many pockets) ... Some OEM Dinky Cell Phone Cables ... Free OEM Scheduled Maintenance (36 mos./36K miles) ... & some other small stuff. ........... I have about around $29,000 OTD Total in this vehicle.

To me, this truck is basically a ... "Newer Version of the Old Prerunner with an OEM Factory Lift" (from the factory, it sits higher than the older Gen 2 Pre-Runner).

I have had loaded TRD's, OR, Entune with Nav., 4x4s ... and never used them to their full potential ... so time for a more practical truck.

One thing that helps on an OTD pricing (Outright Purchase & Drive-Out Price) is I save a lot on taxes on any vehicle ... I pay no taxes in Georgia on a any lease and/or purchase of any vehicle for personal use ... due to military combat disability rating (certain other rated service connected disabilities pay no tax too) - saved me about $3k in taxes & fees on this SR5. ......... With no limits that I know of on this tax deduction in GA. ....... Gentleman, apply for your military & DoD bennies in your specific state.

I had the option of getting a SR5 off the lot at invoice or TRD at MSRP. No dealer in the area at the time will sell TRD below MSRP. if it's not on the lot, there was a 2 month wait. So I impatiently got the SR5 and pretty happy with it. I probably will trade for TRD in a couple years.

I wasn't sure I really liked them until I put the new tires on them. The only reason I could see changing them is if there is a weight advantage worth having. These tires are heavier and I did see a 2-3 mpg hit.

side mirror turn signals, variable intermittent wipers, color keyed bumpers and grille was the deciding factor for me, hence i went with sport package.

Thanks, these are wheels made by T-Force. Not really a special edition wheels but hard to find. They come on a few Tacomas. 16x8 at 18 offset.

303 is a commercial cleaner and protectant for your dash & dash trims. Good stuff.

To me it reminds of the oem fat 5 spoke 18" wheels on my Lexus ls430 back in the day

    Classic styling
    Aggressive
    Fits the truck

I'm starting to wish I would have bought sr5 4x4 DCSB manual. Most of the shit on the TRD OR is unnecessary for the price. At least I didn't get the sport or limited. They come with high price tag and no real added functionality. Really though I should have got a 2015.

For sand/desert 4x4 like parts of Arizona or Eastern California, do you feel a Sr5 4x4 would suffice? Or a TRD OR 4x4 is needed?

We have a date farm where we use our 4x4. I was set on TRD PRO or TRD OR 4x4, but lately have been rethinking...

SR5 is more than adequate I'd probably use the money saved over the TRD to install top line suspension coil overs

If they offered a V8 option people could choose the worse MPG for performance and not be pissed. I would have definitely chosen the V8 even if it meant 15 city to 18 mpg highway. Fact is there are very efficient v8 platforms out there that would net better economy than that anyhow
