I took my 13 DC 4x4 SR5 on a couple trails today in NW FL. They were mostly sand and some water. I did enjoy it. I spent some time cleaning her afterwards. Here are some things I noticed and not exactly sure what the cause. While going over some bumps I came down a little hard on the front end and it bottom out on something. I am not sure what it was I don't see any damage. I also noticed that at some times the trail was in control of the vehicle. The best way to describe it is like being in snow and trying to steer out and not being able to. Maybe better tires would help that. All and all I am not sure the SR5 is set up for any real off-roading. Still had a good time.

    Build thread coming soon!
You probably bottomed out on the lower crossmember. Don't worry- that's exactly what it's there for.
Better tires would certainly help, as would a lift, lockers,...

definitely need new tires, probably a good 3 inch lift, ARB locker, winch, and a flux capacitor. DONT FORGET THE FLUX CAPACITOR.

Seriously tho.. tires. No grip would allow the trail to feel in control.. was it rutted out?

It did have some rutts and loose sand. I agree with the Flux Capacitor. I did not experience any traction issues, probably a good thing because I was alone. I did start looking for water to hit. I stopped short of one spot. Ill take pics of it next time, or have another truck with. I get the feeling if I posted a pic of it I would get a lot of people saying go for it.

Sand and ruts will definitely grab hold and steer you where it wants you to go. Split the ruts, stay high, whatever you can do. I always try to avoid ruts and stay on top.
