    Hello Florida,

I've been trying to get a little more comfort and "back of my legs" support out of these front SR5 seats. In the pic I have (2) 1" long sockets acting as spacers on the front seat legs only.

They make a WORLD of difference! Better support for the back of my legs. It feels like the seat supports me better overall. I can also move the front seats up further while still feeling comfortable & giving the back passengers more room.

I want to buy a 1" diameter steel square tube & cut (4) 2" pieces for all 4 front legs on both front seats.

Do you guys know of any metal fab shops that I can take these to & have them weld the 1" square tube in between the seat rail & the bracket where I am pointing at in the pic below.

I'm looking for a shop in the Miami-Dade or Broward area.

    Thanks.

You're probably going to find it hard to find a shop that will take that on due to liability reasons. Modifying a vehicle manufacturers seat that is part of a passenger restraint system could end badly for them if you were in a wreck and sued them.

this is a touchy subject as stated above, but if i were you i would atleast upgrade the quality and size of bolt that would be used after the 1"spacer is in that way the shear strength is higher.

i.e. if the seat bolts are grade 5 3/8"x3" bolts i would upgrade to a Grade 8 1/2"x4" bolt. and thats something the shop would have to do for you being that it would require cutting off the old nuts and welding new ones back on.

this is just my idea and i dont have a clue if it would really work

    You BOTH make valid points.

Plus, As my wife pointed out, when it comes time to sell it or trade it in it can be an issue also.

I would love to have a bracket made (or some type of aluminum block) so that I can just remove the bracket/block when I do get rid of it. That way I don't compromise the actual seat bracket at all. Also, if I do buy another tacoma then i can use it on that vehicle.

Of course, if I purchase a 4 Runner (which is highly likely) then I won't have any issues with seat adjustments.

    Thanks:D

    PS. Whorelando. HAHAHAHAHA

    good one!
