Don't mod a leased vehicle unless you are planning on buying it after the lease expires ... but if that were the case then just buy a vehicle to begin with.

Modifying a lease vehicle is like borrowing your buddies Harley for the weekend and putting a bunch of frills on it:

    A) Toyota might kill you in cash for doing it, they want your lease back the exact way they gave it to you.

    B) Instead of getting a marginal return off your mods you're literally going to eat 100% of them in the end. Even if you pull everything off when you return it the labor alone is going to be $$$$.

SR5 additionally does not have the in-bed AC power - only the TRD's.

A-Trac is a huge improvement, it is flat out amazing when 4 wheeling. I never even need my locker, A-Trac gets me going every time. Sometimes I think people forget just how much better the off road is for 4 wheeling, it is more than a locker.

If you are buying a 4x4, get the off road, if you are buying a 2 wheel drive, get a sport.

If you are put off by the chrome, I replaced my rear bumper and grill surround for color matched for only $140 after selling my take off bumper and grill on CL.

Then your boned I guess. :tumbleweed:

Why Toyota does not offer a DCLB with the off road package is beyond me.

That's why I said DC (double cab). I have a kid on the way so an AC was not an option. It makes no sense to me so one day I'll have to splurge on an ARB locker.

It's possible. All I remember is my ex-wife, who is not a Tacoma person and sold me my truck while she worked for Lethbridge Toyota, telling me they had a new truck with a locker in DC but it was a 6 speed short box. Anyways the point stands, if I wanted a DC automatic in Canada I couldn't get a stock rear locker.

If you wanted a DC you can't get a locker no matter what tranny you wanted ;)

I got it, and my life is more complete with your answer. I bought my Tacoma in one afternoon without much research at that time to be honest. I had always wanted one and I was in a good situation to get one for a steal of a deal because my ex needed more sales that month and we were still friendly at that point. They had a blue one, I hate black and white because most of them around here are that colour, and the TRD Sport was sexy. Now what was the original topic .

If the op wants something as capable and comfortable as the TRD, swapping out the seats and throwing in an air locker is about the best thing he can do to have something close. As far as I know getting actual Atrac is next to impossible in a non Offroad truck.

Hey OP , what about taking your truck back in and switching to an Offroad ?

Not sure how leases work in the US

Amazing a guy with 400,000 posts forgot to mention A-TRAC prior to this, seeings how it is the most important feature on the TRD Offroad and unobtainable on any other version.

I didn't get understeer because I installed the Baja suspension which was specifically designed to work with the Tacoma so there is absolutely no need to get understeer
