I'm new here, but have been scouring the threads....

I am purchasing a 2016 SR5 DCSB 4x4, but I really like the "look" of the TRD Off Road.
It's the "stance" of the suspension that I like. The OR truck just looks higher and stouter.

I would have gone with the Or, but I wanted to save the money and really personalize this truck. It's also my first truck.

Anyway, what can I do aftermarket to make my SR5 achieve the look of the Off Road suspension?

Or, what is the difference in the two? I know the OR has bilsteins, but is that the only difference? Other coils? Another leaf in the rear?

What can I do to turn a SR5 stance into a OR?

What I am thinking of doing, just gathering form the threads is:

5100 Bilstens at the 1.75 height up front and adding a leaf on the rear.

I think that would add some height, and make it level.

But would that make it look like the OR, or would that make it higher?

    Any help is greatly appreciated

    Are the stances different?
What colors are you looking at?
OR black fender flares will give the illusion of a higher stance, especially with lighter colors...

I'm going with black. I guess what i mean by stance, is the Off Road seems higher on the front and rear. What's the easiest way to achieve that look?
I originally liked the threads with 5100s added to the front set at .85, as it seems like an easy lift for a newbie. My only doubt is when looking at the pictures, this makes the rear seems lower than how the OR sits.

I'd like to get the suspension look of the OR, but I don't wanna go too high and have small ties look off, either. I know I will get at least 265/75/16 Copper AT3. I may go 285, if possible.

Take off the air dam under the front. That is the only thing that makes the OR look taller. Of course the trade off is slightly lower mpg.

Stance will make her dance...... Hate the word stance
I think only the Sport has the air dam. OR and SR5 should be the same minus the OR stuff

I had same thinking when getting my SR5. If I was going to be upgrading the suspension later on, what was the point of paying for stock ones I would be swapping out.

    In for answers.

Nice. So stance is gone from the vocab. "MINUS THE OR STUFF" - that's exactly what I'm getting at:

When it comes to suspension: What is the difference in the SR5 and OR? just the bilsteins and possibly the air dam?

I mean, they look noticeably different, right?

It's really hard to judge stance from pictures.

Here's a center-profile photoshop I did of mine to see what it would look like leveled up front. Tires are BFG 265/75/16.

Here's a photo from a goofy angle with stock tires.

Here is a photo of Mike330R Tacoma; same 'stance' and tires as my first photo.

Splitbolt, I've defintley run across these pics, because they are some of the pictures where I thought "damn, i like that OR". I definitely like the leveled 'shopped pic the best. I see what you you're saying- that you really can't tell from pictures sometimes. Good looking truck though.

Still, anyone know what the difference in the SR5 and the OR "Sport suspension with Bilsteins" or however Toyota defines it, actually is?

OR is better, end of story. Comes with much more features than the sr5.

Because they are. The difference is the off road tuned suspension, bigger tires and the fender flares, appearance-wise. If the OR looks more stout, a small lift, tires and fender flares and you'll have the OR minus the graphics and rear locker I'd say..... Most people change the suspension that comes with the OR anyways, but the rear locker is nice.

What makes the difference though in suspensions? Toyota takes an SR5 suspension and adds something to call it off road tuned, but what actual parts make up the "off road tuned suspension"? That phrase is so vague to me

You know, honestly, that's what I should have done in hindsight. The deposit is down, though and the truck is ordered. I guess I could lose the deposit, and re-order, but damn...

The wheels alone make my decision to go DCSBTRDOR, should I buy a gen3 at some point.

Says the guy who has one.....

Springs are progressive and Bilsteins are tuned by Toyota to work with said springs. I believe they're also a different spring rate??

For what it's worth, those wheels are a nice but not as nice as some SCS wheels! Also, I see plenty of OR suspension for sale in the classifieds. Entire kits that got replaced with bigger better components.
