Hello I have a SR5 some guys selling his shocks and struts that are brand new with only 50 miles off his 2018 Trd Sport on them for only $100 should I do the upgrade and will I see a difference? I’m already going to be adding a leveling spacer in the front so should I just take the time and install the newer gear? Only extra I would have to buy is a spring compressor but for like $130 in total doesn’t seem that bad?

Check out my build thread (Beginning of Money Pit)
I would save your money for an aftermarket suspension if you want any lift. Either a Bilstein with OME coils or an Ome lift kit.

You may want to research a bit more before wasting a bill. They will gain you nothing, maybe a firmer ride... if that's what you are into, that's cool man. For the cost of the spacer and the spring compressor you'd be better off with the 5100s, rides just as well and you can level your front end.

Firmer ride, and the hitachis you have now are actually rather nice on and off road.

Save your money, upgrade to a better setup down the road.

I wouldn't want the firmer ride that the Hitachis give.

I thought SR5s and Sports have the same shocks?

No. Sr/sr5 share shocks with the limited.

Whether you should, depends on what you are looking for in ride characteristics. The TRD Hitachis ride very firm; I think the SR5s ride much better and more balanced for on and off road. Ride in a TRD sport sometime to compare before doing all of the work; it's more of a sports-car or similar ride - I thought it was terrible, for a truck.

I had Bilstein 5100 on my Gen 2 and I have a Gen 3 Sport now. The sport rides fine - definitely a firmer suspension for on-road/ light trail vs 5100. I honestly doubt you’ll notice a difference - I test drive a Sport and an SR5 when I was buying my Gen3 and I had no idea they had a different suspension.

When my Sport Shocks go bad, I’ll probably do like everyone else and buy 5100s though. For now I’d save the money if yours are good unless you are about to lift it or hate how the SR5 suspension feels...

All the hate for the sport tuned suspension figure I'll throw in my .02...

They're an upgrade from the stock sr5 suspension so I'd say for $100 you cant go wrong!

Whichever you decide, I think spring compressors can be rented from auto zone or the like for free.

If it was truly an upgrade why does the SR5 share the same suspension as the Limited Trims, since they are higher than the Sport?

Limited and SR5 are intended more for on road/ Utility (Though they do fine off-road). The Sport is claimed to be tuned as a ‘Desert Runner’. The OffRoad is tuned more for harsh off-road conditions and better articulation. At least that’s what a guy at Toyota told me. They all are fine vehicles..... more preference really.

Only if what the sport provides is what you want. IF it does, great. It's not what I want at all.

It helps to not look at limited/sport/OR in terms of “higher” trim over each other, though it could be said of the Sr/sr5, since those are base models. There’s only base models and limited/trd trims, to keep it simple. They are all the same truck with different components. The hitachis from the Sr/limited and the hitachis from the sport aren’t anymore of an upgrade as, say, upgrading from leprechauns to unicorns. They’re the same basic shock, just tuned differently. If you like a softer more compliant ride, stick with the Sr/limited, in my experience with that tuning and sway bar removed, it’s been the best STOCK off road suspension I’ve driven. sport will be stiffer.

Definitely better to save and get a better setup than Factory Sport stuff.
