I really never tried my sr5 with the stock firestones for more than a couple weeks. I installed my set of Goodyear adventure tires with kevlar on it. I rode in a buddies 2019 trd at that time that had basically the same tires. It was pretty hard for me to feel much difference if any in the ride between that truck and my sr5.

Yeah I was really shocked at the difference. The Firestone's did the job I guess. Obviously as expensive as Taco's are now the last thing you want to do is spend more money on new tires but I really think it's worth it.

My buddy's sport is definitely stiffer than my Off Rd. I'll probably rarely go off road but I like the highway feel in mine better.

the handling of my trd sport AC is one of the few things i like about the truck. as mentioned in other posts, there is not a lot of body roll and it handles well. i do not find the ride harsh at all. i am running the stock toyo A30 tires and switch to an p-rated AT tire with the 3PMSF in the winter.

when the time comes to replace the shocks i will very likely get the same ones that came from the factory.

It wasn't so bad for me as I had bought the Goodyear tires for my gen1 tundra. Being nearly the same size, and all terrain, it was a no brainer to save them for my tacoma....plus I made a little cash selling the firestones as take-offs.

Did you check tire pressures when doing this. Some of these tacoma's ride pretty un-compliant cause their tires are overinflated.

    Ouch...

It must hurt to spend that much money for a truck and feel that way about it.
    :sorry:

Stock sport suspension is definitively on the stiff side, handles like a sports car on curvy highways.

I really enjoyed it city/highway driving, off road not so much.

Well, I wouldn't go so far as saying it handles like a sports car; I've owned and driven many, and while I agree my Sport handles better than pretty much any other small pickup I've ever driven, it ain't no sports car. :p

Sure I’m exaggerating a bit, but with rock hard E rated 265s it handled amazingly for a pick up.

Drove buddies lowered E43 and it handled worse than my sport.

FWIW, sport has the thickest sway bar.

I removed mine and it seriously weighs like 25-30 poumds.

Suspension would be the last thing I would worry about when choosing between SR and Sport. Are the two models that close in price?

The sport sway bar is supposed to be registered as a concealed weapon in 32 states.

Look at that python. It could successfully defend against the entire Cobra Kai.

I have the Sport but had the TRD lift kit installed. Kind of feel like it’s the best of both worlds. The stock sport I felt a little to stiff and the 5100’s all around on my sport give me the perfect ride in my opinion over rough roads while maintaining highway feel

I've got a stock '19 2wd SR5 DCLB with stock Toyo tires at ~38psi. I'm 5-8 180-something and I have never had complaints about harshness, hinky seat angles, too low to the floorboard, poor rear visibility (even with headache rack), etc that others have expressed about Tacomas in general. Around 35k small town daily driving, light hauling, & weekends-to-the-lake country highway miles have been nothing but comfortable. I think the long bed helps ride quality.

It's so damn confusing because of packages/extras, but they are a few thousand apart as near as I can tell at this point.

Oddly enough, when I bought my TRD Sport last year I compared the prices between the SR5 and the Sport, as Apples-to-Apples as I could get them, and the TRD Sport was less expensive. Go figure.

If you just need the v6, Auto, 4x4, with a radio, the SR should be fine and save you that couple bucks to get this or that exactly how you want it.
I really wouldn't sweat the suspension, they ride like cars compared to some of the pickups I've had.

I used to get bounced when tires warm up to 36 on stock SR5 suspension and firestones

Way better performance from the Bilstein’s, didn’t care too much for the Hitachis, particularly off road where this truck belongs!
