This is why I picked an SR....ok, so I added fog lights and upgraded a few things. But I dig tinkering on it.

I've pulled some heavy boats up a dew covered grassy bank with my sr5 in low 4wd with no issue...maybe a little wheel spin getting going, but by far it was easy enough nothing else was needed.

Push button is there only for convenience and makes your vehicle much easier to steal.

Physical immobilizer key is still the better option for security.

This is just a fact man

My choices after careful balance of cost/utility were:
    > SR/4x4/DCSB for good mechanical basics and many $$ left in my pocket for tires/suspension/necessary-upgrades
    > OR which has the offroad toys already and several comfort features, even if the offroad features are not quite optimal

All others were too much money for going only 1/2 way.

    Just my humble opinion.

very easy to steal now days compared to key ignition. You also have to remember that most Sr5's have push to start for the 23 model year. All V6 models.

The biggest thing is, you can put TRD stickers / badges on an OR and feel good about it.

I just took the starter motor out. I figure between that and manual transmission it’s anti-theft and push-start all rolled into one

push button cars are being targeted much more often for this very reason...they are much easier to steal. This a known fact.

My ‘23 SR5 has push to start.

Another difference I didn’t see mentioned was interior. I have cloth interior and I’m thinking they might not offer leather, maybe? I could be wrong.

I’m on pavement 350 days of the year and decent logging roads is my only off roading so I couldn’t justify the extra $$$ for any trim past the SR5. Honestly I like the look of the matching fenders more on mine as well. I put on a set of Wildpeaks and I’m good to go.

I had a TRD Sport trim on my 2ng gen which at the time was the 2nd highest trim. My 3rd gen SR5 has more options than my 2nd gen did.

I’ve owned 2016 SR5 and a 2020 TRD OR. I’ll summarize the major upgrades on the OR assuming we are talking about an automatic transmission.

    - all terrain 265mm wide tires
    - multi-terrain select
    - crawl control
    - locking 8.75” rear differential
    - Bilstein shock absorbers
    - front tow hook
    - a larger engine splash guard thingy
    - inclinometer
    - a handful of luxury/comfort/aesthetic upgrades

(Note that MTS/CC is more than just software. It also includes a different brake booster.)

Personally, my #1 reason for getting the OR was the manual transmission option, but I also get plenty of use out of ATRAC and the rear locker and the all terrain tires are a noticeable upgrade in snow/mud/sand over the all-seasons on the SR5.

Rented a SR-5 for a weekend and bought a TRD OR.
As others said, the OR ironically had the better ride on the road, but I also liked the feel of its steering better. The SR-5 steering felt vague, while the OR seems to have more feedback.
Also- the MT-6 is not available on the SR-5, which for me, was a factor.

Are you buying new? When do you expect to transact? Serious question because 4th gen is expected later this year, and the trims and packages will probably be different.
