My SR5 came with the driver's side lumbar, but not the "Rally" cloth seats.

Mine also came with the lumbar support, just not the "upgraded" seat fabric. I looked inside a TRD; I didn't really think one type of fabric was better than the other, just different. But, that's just my opinion. :)

Yes you can get the lumbar but not the sport seats, they are more form fitting and hold you better. They come up more on the seat and in the shoulder area.

Not a big difference just a preference to which ever you fit better in.

I wonder... How hard is it to get a hold of two of those "sport" seats for my 007? I loved my "sport" seats in my VW GTI and my Mazda RX-7.

I'm jealous... I'm 6'4" and never fit that well in an RX7 but always loved the last model. The sport seats don't hug quite as much as those but you could always check the junk yards if you really wanted some.

LOL - I wish I (ever) had enough money to buy the 3rd Gen RX-7 with twin turbos, but I never did. No, I had an 86' with the normally aspirated 13B engine. It was just fun to drive. That was before Ford bought Mazda and the RX-7 disappeared from known reality.

My only concern with putting 'sport' seats in my Tacoma - I want ones that match my beige interior. I think it looks sweet! :)

Unfortunately I think they only come in ash. But you could always reupholster them if you really feel the need…don’t think it’s worth all that trouble though.

The mesh seating in the Sport left bright red marks on my GF's legs from only a few minutes test drive.

I ended up with the SR5 - but would like to have the locking rear, electrical outlet, compass/temp, and tow package (only for fun, I'd probably never need these).

I have the tow package on my SR5. I am going to put in the electrical outlet, a Detroit TrueTrac rear end, and a nav system (to suplement the compass). I will just have to use the old 'hand-on-the-window' trick for the temp. :)

What were the red marks from..?

The TrueTrac looks like the best bet. And for $600 installed - a no brainer.

Red marks from the mesh - you know, like when you sleep too long on wrinkled sheets and they leave an impression on your skin.

You guys are still forgetting the wheels and tires and the Billstein shocks... all in all what this thread was originally for if you like the features of the TRD then you should buy the TRD, it's a good price for all that you get, if you only want certain aspects of the TRD then buy the SR5 and upgrade later. I hope that helps terps33. :D

My two cents is to get what you want. The TRD is a smoother ride, looks better, and the real ticket is when you go to sell it. If it were a Ford or Chevy then yes, I would forego it however, it isn't the same as adding the "stuff" later yourself. If you are looking to buy a Toyota and one has a bunch of aftermarket items the buyer installed matching another which has the TRD Off-Road pkg which would you choose? It just makes sense. Go with the TRD Off-Road pkg because you will eventually use it sometime and you sure as hell do NOT want to wish after your purchase, that you had just gotten it.

As someone mentioned, there are two flavors of TRD. I know you said sport, but depending on the model you are wanting, off-road may be available.

Does the TRD really ride smoother? I test drove one and couldnt' really tell the diffrence... but might have been the excitment of driving them both. If so, what makes it smoother? and can you get it added to the SR5?

There are two differences if you are talking SR5 PreRunner and TRD PreRunner.

    Bilstien shocks vs. stock
Progressive rate coil springs on the front vs. standard rate

The rest of the suspension is the same to my knowledge...

Every one I know that has a tacoma that didn't get a trd wish they had. In responce to lexusoftrucks. Why waist time looking for cheaper priced parts, paying shipping costs, waiting for your order, then taking the time to install it and hope you did it right. Are you going to take it back to yourself for warranty work? lol. If you didn't. By the time you get done upgrading to TRD you would have spent the same amount if you would have paid for the TRD pakage. Not to mention all the time you spent wrenching instead of driving. Im not trying to start a efight just adding my 240,000 cents:confused:
