So I was driving and everything seemed fine but I heard a pop and then my steering wheel was out of alignment when I straightened back out. The stability control system light came on and when I got out to check my engine bay out I noticed a oil of some kind must have sprayed through the engine bay??
I'm honestly not sure what to be looking for or if I should just take it to Firestone to have them look at it sense I have a lifetime alignment deal with them?
    Any suggestions?

You got a picture of carnage and oil/ grease?
CV axle most likely. Or the rack and pinion.
Is it lifted? Stock wheels and tires or are those aftermarket?

I'll put some pictures up but it's hard to tell. It's just darker where it got sprayed. I have about 2in lift. Method wheels and 33 tires

It's under warranty but it's also heavily modded and they may just pin it on me. Also they tend to fix things and charge way too much before even asking so honestly trying to avoid going to the dealership

Ahhh yeah if it isnt stock, i would probably avoid the dealer too. If you've got some pics im sure someone on here can help you narrow down the problem

My problem is finding what to take a picture of honestly. I'm not seeing anything obvious other than the discoloration of where the oil got onto. I did change my outer steering rack to moogs and it's been fine. Not sure if it's related.

This doesn't sound like stability control malfunction. It sounds like something broke which triggered a warning

Post up some pictures of the engine bay, where the oil sprayed, and also down inside the front wheels/suspension so we can have a look at your tie rods, suspension, cv's, etc.

If you post a pic and something is out of place, someone will probably notice it pretty quick

Seems like this had to be rack either busting a tooth or jumping a tooth. If your wheel was crooked all of sudden then your stability control should be upset, no malfunction there.

When my rack broke, there was a loud pop, the truck dash lit up like a Christmas tree as the truck stalled. Started it back up and had no power steering.
@Taco#3 is this on a 3rd gen or a 2nd gen... you posted in the 2nd gen forum is why I ask.

Sorry for the quality. It's dark out and I don't have a lift so the pictures are a little close. I'm wondering if it's my steering rack or my 4wheel drive. When I switch to 4 wheel and turn the wheel I hear a "thud".

My bad, it's a 3rd gen. My dash didn't light up crazy. Just the check engine and stability system malfunction

Could be the transfer case or the rack...
The pic with the power steering lines is all wet with fluid.20201014_181004.jpg

Yeah just followed that line. I added a new picture to the file. There's a tear up top in it. But it goes to my radiator still have a good amount of power steering fluid

That tear is going to be your problem most likely and the pop was the hose blowing. Maybe a blockage caused it to blow out. You'll get a better look tomorrow in the light.

Dealer is about 2200... new rack, new ps pump and new high pressure line, new return line.
The rack can be had for about 400 now from mcgeorge Toyota I believe. You would just order it and find someone to install.

If it's my rack I'm gonna have to upgrade
Hoping it was just the line but we'll see
