Stock clutch started slipping at 9,000 miles. Replaced with a Stage 3 Competition Clutch from URD.

Pedal is quite a bit stiffer than stock and the clutch grabs hard. Harder to drive. Takes some time to get used to. Some clutch chatter is normal until the clutch is broken in.

Some installation notes: "The segmented bronze ceramic material used on the flywheel side gives the clutch its incredible torque holding capability, while the carbon/Kevlar material on the pressure plate side provides the stock like smooth engagement."

Throwout bearing and alignment tool are included.

Bottom line: The stock 1GR clutches are junk so if you have a blower or drive your truck hard it's only a matter of time until...

Nice except the stiff pedal is going to suck in city traffic.

Yeah it would suck if I lived in the city. I would drive an automatic if I lived in the city, haha. Toyota needs to beef up their stock clutches or TRD should make one for the 1GR. :) They make a supercharger but the drivetrain needs to handle the extra power too.

very neat. so is it still a clutch or more like an on-off switch now?

and just a fair warning, cant remember if it was hydraulics or the fork on the old transmissions (pre-taco) that would break from the added pressures associated with a comparatively "stiff" pressure plate. I know the pedal on our trucks is plastic. . . .

It's still a clutch. Not an on and off switch like the 6 puck style clutches.

After about a 300 mile break in the clutch drives pretty well. Chatter is virtual gone. Grabs solid. Once you get used to the stiffer pedal and how it grabs harder pulling out it's not that bad to drive every day. If you have a supercharged truck your stock clutch is on borrowed time so you'll have to bite the bullet eventually. URD makes their own clutch kits with a beefy hub/disc and pressure plate assembly. I would have gone with that but they were out of stock. They have a Stage 2, 3, 3+, and dual disc option capable of 1000 ft-lbs.

You give me hope!! Just took mine out for a test drive (stage 3) after the install (followed directions to the freggin T!) and it started off like butter, but when I pulled up to the drive through (10 miles and 25 shifts later) the chatter (shuddering when engaging clutch) was so bad I thought I was going to have to push my truck through manually :(

in the way home mix of smooth and chattery shifts, nothing as bad as drive through. I can see how my alognment being out from also redoing my entire suspension and steering rack (PITA) would make drive through turns a tough one to push through initially, just wasn’t expecting that!!

could also be the new rear main seal leaked a little and that oil needs to wear off.. have to check for drips tomorrow.

Will be taking it easy and hoping for the best.
