I still think a Tacoma is a sharp looking little truck which is one of the reasons I bought it years ago. It was all covered in road salt and crap for the great weather we've been having. This weekend I cleaned it up. It looks great except for the rusted looking tailpipe you see from the back and side.

I like the side looks of the bolt-on stainless TRD tailpipes you can buy but from the back they look look like rusty pipe with a shiny bolt on tailpipe.

I'd like to find a cat-back stainless system that is NOT loud and does NOT produce any resonance at any RPM. Anyone have any suggestions?

    Thanks.

    Thanks for the feedback.
    - Is the Borla louder than the OE system?
    - With the windows up at and between 1500 and 2500 RPM there is no resonance, right ?

Anyone have any pictures of the system?

No resonance. I have the moonroof in my truck and always have it open and no drone at all and very nice driving on the highway. Borla is slightly louder but trd is louder than borla. If you want a nice sounding exhaust and are worried about drone Borla is way to go. You get what you pay for. Its a simple bolt up install to can be done in 20 minutes or less.

Or are you just talking about the bolt on tip?

Thanks BORNWILDGUY. And you're right - you get what you pay for. The Borla system sounds just like what I'm looking for.

I have the TRD cat-back and it's not loud at all. In fact, before I bought it I thought it was going to be louder than it actually turned out to be. I always thought that the Borla was louder (at least that's what I've always read/heard from others).

    Yes. It's all stainless.

I had Gibson before my current TRD. I liked it, but I should have had the sections welded together (I had small leaks at the joints). It was quieter than the TRD.

Looking at your sig pic, are you a Black Knight?

Our stock exhaust is stainless as well.

There are many different grades of stainless, it is an alloy.

You can clean up the factory exhaust to make it a great deal better looking but it will not get a mirror polished look as the borla does. After cleaning/polishing it a clear coat will keep it in a nice shape for awhile but tire spray of salt and rocks will take its toll on it.

There is a factory stainless tip option that is round which clamps on over the stock basic exhaust that looks pretty good. It is only a tip about 6" long not the whole 90* bend.

If you are wondering how the borla or TRD sounds there are sound clips to let you hear them. I would go borla if you want a nice calm mellow tone, the trd is obvious compared to stock.
