    An unusually high amount of pinstriping.
    Really don't want to discourage you, but you're probably not going to run into much snow on Stampede. I was at 4,000' on Tuesday and had just a skiff of snow in spots and Stampede sits at 3,600' (I think). Your best bet would be to head for Greens Pass. It sits right around 5,400' but even then I'm not sure. The other thing to keep in mind is Saturday is the start of Elk season on the west side and Sunday is the end of Elk season on the east side. Lots of road hunters going 5 mph that are convinced if they let you in front of them, you are going to shoot their Elk.

    All of that being said, it would be a good day for a drive. If you go just don't expect much snow and bring LOTS of patience. I have extremely little patience when dealing with road hunters so count me out.

    There's no snow. I just came over it this evening on my way out of Lester. Might find ice, but no snow.

    Now if you organized this as a plinking session, pull up and unload about 1000 rounds of your favorite ammo :devil:, you'd probably start WWIII with maybe a few hundred guys in camo and blaze orange. :anonymous:

    It's all FS roads and a bone stock Tacoma shouldn't have any issues. The only thing I would question would be stock tires. The tie road has a tendency to be a little hard on tires. There are a few ways to get to Greens Pass. I'm probably off on the road numbers, I know them by the nicknames. @bobsuruncle and @JimSnell jump in if you remember road numbers or have better descriptions. To get to Greens Pass from Stampede, your going to go down to the old town of Lester. Just before Lester take a left onto the 52rd (I think). If you hit the gate on the Friday Creek bridge for Tacoma's watershed turn around. The junction you need is back maybe a quarter of a mile. Once you're on the 52rd you'll go under the high trestle and go 3.5 to 4 miles to the 7040rd(??:notsure:). Really not sure about the number of this one. I know it as the tie road. Anyways it peels off to the south (right) and starts to climb. There's one major junction on the tie road about halfway up, stay to the left. After 4 to 5 miles you'll reach the top. From here you can go west (right) to the top of Greens Pass and then down to the 70 road and then eventually Hwy 410 by the town of Greenwater. Or you can go east (left) and drop down to the 19 road and the Naches then eventually to Hwy 410 by the town of Cliffdell.

    You literally can spend a couple of weeks exploring the roads around Stampede, Greens Pass and the Naches. If you jump across Hwy 410 by Cliffdell, you get into the Bumping Lake, Little Bald Mountain, and Bethal Ridge areas. From Bethal Ridge you can drop down onto Hwy 12.

    On a side note, at the 52 and 7040 split, you could go north (left) and head for Tacoma Pass. Tacoma pass use to drop down to Easton but it blew out years ago (twenty-ish). I haven't been up there in at least 16 years, but I've heard the jeeps have been getting through. Not sure if a stock Tacoma can make it or not. Also, I think you have to ford a river in one spot so probably a summer recon trip. One of the roads in that area will also run you back to Stampede pass. I took it a long time ago so I'm not sure it's still drivable.

    From I-90 I think it’s
    52 road to 7040
    7040 to 7036
    7036 to 7030
    7030 to 70
    that puts you in greenwater.

    always meant to go check out Tacoma pass but haven’t yet.

    another loop you could do is 75 road up to lonesome lake, and then come down 73 road. Does one big loop, both end at highway 410 by greenwater

    See comments within this quote.
    54 Rd from I90 to lester, then 52 --> 7040 --> 7036 is also still 7040 --> 7030 --> 70 Rd.

    The road numbers interchange and overlap a lot from reroutes and stuff. Important thing is how Eric described it. He's actually (literally) a professional when it comes to this.
