I was also looking at getting an access cab but looked ahead into the future. I knew I would be keeping the truck for a long time so I thought about the "kid" situation so I just went with a the double cab. I'm really glad I did!! Lots of room for friends and neighbors!!!:D

Search for that topic (if you haven't already). Tons of info on this site about it. Also, hang around this site long enough and you'll probably end up knowing more than you ever wanted to about Tacomas.

I got my PreRunner Access Cab ('07) because I need a truck. The space behind the front seats is perfect for stuff I NEED locked inside, while the bed is much more useful to me than the abbreviated box on a quadcab short bed. Also, I am tall with long legs so I can move the seat back, recline the seat a bit and my head isn't against the glass as would likely be in a standard cab.
I barely have room on my driveway for an Accord, an Accura TL and the PreRunner, which is to say the quadcab standard bed is a non starter.

If you need a four door sedan, get one. If you need a truck, get one. A Tacoma quad cab is neither, but then that's what compromise is all about.
