Yeah; you get a nice turbo and that easily another grand... I would love to get a nice twin scroll but for a target HP of 300-350, chinese turbos is good enough :notsure:

Upgrade down the road. This setup will at least get you going. Might even be able to find a good used turbo. Like what MadTaco did. Found himself a used ball bearing Turbonetics.

Yea a ball bearing twin scroll will make it spool much faster then a journal bearing.

I agree with tor. You'll ne fine for now. But I'd definetly think about getting something different later. I'd even get a slightly smaller one for even faster spool.

I would need new headers to take advantage of the twin scroll but its nice to dream :p
I did get a smaller one. Turns on the turbo they sent was an 80mm so I sent that back and will get the new one this thursday/friday. Picked the smallest GT35 they had; he said it should start making positive boost around 2k-2.5k rpms, right where I wanted it

They sent you an 80 originally?!?! That's not big..that's approaching fucking huge haha

Sweet! Still tempted to do this myself one day..but..maybe not. We will see.

    PS, cage first :p

I may or may both and looked at twin charging a lot..last week..:anonymous:

Some pretty funny opinions out there on it haha

I'd turbo before cage though cause I'd have to have it in there to figure out how to do the engine cage with a snail In there haha

    It's only money right?

I'm really anxious to see how yours turns out though. It's hard to justify a twin charge setup with the right sized turbo with our rpm range. A small turbo that starts boost at 2k even if it's 4psi..is well..on par with a supercharger about I think.

Twin charged would be killer. You planning on building your engine?

That's what I keep telling myself...

    You and me both...

If I went win charge..yea Id build the motor. Probably talk the LCE about head work and cams to rasie the rev limit to better use the whole system. And the bottom end for certain. Probably go for the stock so pulley and 10 psi from the turbo so be about...22?? Psi total..or so. Be pretty cool to do.

But who knows. I'm still in college haha won't have money for that kinda stuff for a while.

I still like the idea of just slapping a 2jz in it and going from there haha

All of this twin charge talk seems so weird to me. My set up gives me positive pressure at 2000 RPMs and lag is non-existent. I know for a fact this little turbo could dish out 20 psi all day. Like black dog said get some head work done and replace the rods/pistons and cams for forged and the sky is the limit (or 600-700hp)

A small turbo would get choked off before you hit 600. Won't move enough air.

But with a small turbo on this motor, it makes perfect sense. Can't go over 5.5k anyways and you can make low boost easy. But more power then a supercharger.

A guy I saw did that to a mazdaspeed 3. Used a trd scion tc Sc and a big Garrett turbo. No lag boost at idle to red line. The sc spooled up the turbo

My only issue with the 2JZ is its a dog until its in boost. I drove a 700hp supra and it felt like a camry around town. Wasn't until 4500rpms that you started feeling the engine's balls drop.

With a heavy ass truck as your's with big ass tires, might not be the best engine. I think it can be stroked to 3.2L but the 5VZ will still kick its but on the low end. Maybe if you did a sequential twin turbo setup...

W/e, go graduate college and them we'll talk motor swaps :p

Well I was gonna run the stock turbos in sequential. Upgrade them too. You can actually stroke the 2jz to 3.4l. But itll cost an additional 7k. Haha yet another problem with it is parts are pricey as fuuuuccckkkk.

The built 5vz twin charged could be cool. Guess when I'm ready I'll price it all out. Idk how much it'll cost to build the 5vz. You are right the low end torque if the 5vz is nice and kinda needed haha plus the uniqueness is appealing to me for some reason..it's just...Frankenstien like too haha

The supra you drove though no doubt had a single big snail on it so major boost lag. Smaller twins will solve that.

Either way...you are correct! Need to get a real job before any of that nonsense happens haha

Yeah, she and I discussed this. She's gone most of Saturday so Sunday we made reservations the Melting Pot. Just in case, I'm going to buy her a big ass vase of flowers.

If you don't hear from me in like a week then I probably figured wrong. If you see my face on the news, I figured way wrong...
