No. Gasket on the valve cover to keep oil out of the spark plug tube (where the boots go). The spark plug was buried in oil...

Got it all fixed though but would have been happier if I knew to replace those when I did the valve cover gaskets...

Also had a small leak by the wastgate still. The valve seat didnt go in straight; hopefully got that fixed too. Going to test drive everything tonight. Got my exhaust parts in so going to schedule the work this week. Hopefully Ill get the exhaust and tune by Friday.

RamyBuilt for the tune and exhaust.

I originally wanted to go to Shad and Accuracy Automotive but they are booked solid for a month. They recommended and vouched for RameyBuilt.

Runs great! Sort of*. Just the headers make a difference; the stock heads are pretty small. I can hear the turbo start to spool at around 2200 rpms (now that I got the waste gate fixed), Im guessing positive boost around 3k, not what I wanted exactly.

*Just need to find a new valve cover (mine has a crack :()

Dude that sucks. Yeah these bigger headers definetely make a difference right off the bat with no boost. I'd say pos boost at 2700 RPMs for you.

Smaller headers would be better actually...not smaller then stock..just slightly bigger then stock. Would increase exhaust velocity to spin the turbo. Unless they are already optimized...but who knows with cx.

3k is too high IMO for boost. I'd want it a bit lower..then again Frank lives are 3krpm now days but that's due to the regear.

Bummer about the valve cover! Hit the junk yard!

Got one off eBay on the way (Friday). Yeah, not happy with the boost. I think Cx sent the wrong turbo... again. Its not bad so Ill stick with it. I just want the damn thing to drive for now.

This valve cover is really getting to me. First the spark plug tube gasket and now this. Good thing its the passenger side. The driver side requires a bit more effort to get off.

Headers will deff be a positive thing for these trucks. I'm very surprised how much of a diff it is now.

I hope. 3k is a bit high for me, however there's no "lag" per se as the power band feels strong right off the bat. With gears, it will be even better and boost sooner.

Turbos are easy to change if you want down the road.

I think for his size turbo the header size is perfect. Slower flow but more volume

These are no performance headers; I think the performance increase mostly speaks to the stock header's restrictiveness.

Short tube headers should build some low end torque.

Anyways, had to push the exhaust install and tune to next week. Will do the valve cover this weekend. Its kind of a good feeling knowing what at least.

Exactly. Its a china turbo and Ive been planning to replace it down the road anyways.

Thanks. If you are interested in the kit, recommend you just get the headers and put together the rest of the pieces. The oil feed and return lines are functional but there are much better universal kits out there.

I just to the new valve cover in so hope to get that on tonight.

I have most of my setup together, I just know I'm going to get lost with vacuum, boost and oil lines

Wouldn't an equal length tube header be the best for a turbo… if you could fabricate it of course. Ad all the exauhst pulses would be right after the other, making it almost a single flow instead of pulses. Increasing the velocity

The pulse will still interfere. To truly get rid of pulse interference, you need to get a proper two scroll turbo and headers.

The tube style headers will generally perform better, but unless its a twin scroll setup, not as much as you think. Exhaust gasses will still get backed up at the turbo.

While log style headers generally run cooler and last longer than tube style headers, again, that difference isn't much. The real reason companies like Cx use log style headers is costs.

Equal length headers help turbos but not a ton. Be damn impossible on out v6s anyways. Haha
