Phil and I did the last one. A good bead would do, just a gravity drain.

Lots of work done, a bit more needed.

First, got the radiator and fans installed.

    DSC04618_zpsvjsezdvl_46ac26a21219dc3969f6d9940e5fb41d80e9fbe2.jpg

Got the upgraded fan controller with a proper threaded temp probe (not the probe you jam into the radiator fins). Its water proof but I still want to mount it high up, thinking the rear firewall but not sure yet.

    DSC04614_zpslq65qcej_9211e0790de55ad02353c3b8b891fb0086618890.jpg

    DSC04615_zpsk00gl6hv_b5492c62e0282a00134b370cfffe1715c60e6890.jpg

Lots of re-looming to do to consolidate some of these wire runs.

For the temp probe, when with Glowshift adapter. Flex-a-lite was the only company that made a proper threaded adapter but it was almost $30 more than I got the Glowshift so I'm jut going to drill and tap it. It also comes with a grounding attachment; I'm going to mount it on the lower rad hose.

Oil pan in. Where I mounted the fitting was close...

Mounted the igniter module next to the aux fuse box to keep the wire loom away from the down pipe. Where it was previously mounted put the wireloom perilously close to the turbo and down pipe. Still not perfect so to be safe, got some heat resistant sleeves for now. Again a lot of wiring that needs to be re-done.

What a fucken rats nest. Bro, do you even wire?

Took the hood pin off for the engine bay lights and put in a switch.

    DSC04620_zpscoimatai_227effabea619b5ae33be66192113672d2ed0b81.jpg

While I was going over the wiring, figured its a good time to unfuck the alarm wiring. Took off the hood switch for that; don't really need it. Now just got to figure out how to wire it so the alarm doesn't go nuts.

Lots of work man. Would love to do away with the clutch fan. I've read it doesn't do much to switch to electric but I still think think they are better. Get that fuel rail pumping man!

I don't think it will be a big difference. Just shifts the load to the alternator. The module I got has a "force on" and "force off" function but I don't know if you can do both. What I would like to do is have a three way rocker switch with a neutral in the middle and on/off on the top/bottom. If not, just a force off function in case I have to go through some deep water.
Yeah, its a rats nest and probably will stay that way but I think a few hours of work can make it a tidy rats nest :p Focused on function now. When I get some time, Ill get one of those waterproof fuse/relay boxes Skygear used to make and clean up some of the wiring.

Forkin done! Got the fan controller wired up, sensor housing tapped and installed, new spark plugs, new plug wires, redline hood struts, and a few other misc crap. Just need to fill with oil and coolant and fire it up.

Damn, @Torspd, do you get the jitters this bad after a long down period? I triple checked everything but still feel nervous as hell.

Haha, heard that. I could have fired her up today but I figured another day to cool the nerves was in order. Going to take it slow and probably give it ago tomorrow or Saturday.

Fire up! Oil pressure good! Everything good! Diff back in, probably another afternoon to get it all back together and ready for a test run.

How does it run now? Did you ever fix the closed loop wildly swinging idle AFRs? Mine swings from 12-17 for a while, sometimes will settle down around 14.7 if it idles for a while. Worst part is the light load surging. It settles down right at 14.7 under moderate/heavy load in closed loop. Finally got a p1133 code but it didn't really narrow anything down. It's driving me nuts, I've been over everything, still have an exhaust leak from the passenger side crossover vband tho. I have a 2001 Tacoma 4 door automatic too with the front AFR sensor too.

Not yet, its a vacuum leak from the TB. Might have overtightened the clamp and cracked the TB or the vac tube from the rear is leaking.

Been doing a course for Navy for the last week and have a big job interview tomorrow so not much work on the truck. This weekend worked to un fuck the car alarm that was installed with twisted wires and bubblegum electric tape (before I bought it). Got about a 1amp draw on the battery right now so something is grounded.

Hopefully get some work done this weekend.

    Update:
Had a ground fault. Fixed! Officially done with the engine! *Cant find the battery charger for my camera so had to use my phone, sorry for the pic quality*

Original Alternator with new pig tail, just in case.

    0623161213_zpscodyyfr9_c6ec7803b486105244988c6a5f3f4dad62a278c5.jpg

Everything together but a few more tasked on the to do list:

1: Car alarm has a ground when enabled. Looking at the wiring hack job done at install (this was installed before I bought it), I'm not too surprised.

    0623161212_zpss1zy1get_21bac0c5588d51686f15246970591bfe73397e6b.jpg

2: New Light Racing Upper Ball Joints and OEM Toyota Lower Ball Joints ordered. Should be an afternoon to get those installed. Lowers are pretty bad so not driving it until these are fixed. Don't want to pull a Monte :D

3: Need to take a trip to Southern Performance to nail down the source of a vacuum leak.
