I live in an area where there have been alot of car thefts lately- the police often find these stolen vehicles crashed, burned-out, or otherwise destroyed. It would break my heart if my Taco fell into the wrong hands.

This got me wondering if anyone has installed a killswitch or other ignition disabling mechanism?

You obviously have full coverage. Stop worrying over it. If they want it that bad they will take it any way they can. Trust me it’s not worth the sleepless nights over something you can’t control.

Not in my truck, but I had one in one of my cars. The concept is the same for most vehicles; a hidden switch that prevents power to the starter or fuel pump. Any reputable alarm shop will be able to do it for you.

Sounds like your area is having issues with joy riders? Another thing you may want to consider is moving the horn, or what ever generates noise when the alarm goes off, and moving it to a hidden location. Thieves will pop the hood and cut the wire to the horn before popping the door so you won't hear the break in.

Our trucks' hood is connected to the alarm; however, if they know what they are doing, they can disconnect that wire thru the grille..!

Hidden kill switch saved my 2 snowmobiles a few yrs. ago..! :fingerscrossed:
