Texas. But the start/stop cars I’ve driven have been rentals in Mississippi, New England, and a few random countries in Europe. I’ve heard the AC staying cold can be an issue but I think they mostly now have logic to not stop based on temperature or AC settings or something. Also, in Europe almost every car is a manual and the auto stop doesn’t happen if the clutch stays pressed at stops, it only does it if you’re in neutral and release the clutch. I’m sure it’s not perfect all the time, just my data point.

FWIW in my BMW 6MT with Start/Stop the function will not engage unless I put the car in neutral and let the clutch go. Something I guess nobody ever does in traffic.

I tested start/stop in a 2024 BMW X5 mild hybrid last August when it was 110F. It worked fine.

In the tiktok video she further elaborates that it will throw a CEL. It will still start. You can then either replace the starter or just have the code reset. Glad that Toyota does that. And glad the MTBF is that high. My previous unTaco Toyota's starter lasted 16 years.

If it is like the Tundras it isn't too bad. It does not activate with a lighter press of the brake pedal, even plenty of pressure to stop and hold your position at a traffic light. The screen pops up a message to press harder on the brake if you want the auto stop to happen. Most times I don't but on some heinously long lights around here I do. In any case it is easy to manage just with your foot. And if you press harder than you want and it shuts off once in a rare while, so what?

I've noticed this as well (for every video of ATs that show the center console buttons so far). Leaves me wondering what vehicles the manual is referencing when it states "*if equipped". I assumed they were talking about MTs. Wouldn't think the hybrids would have a stop-start cancel. Potentially good news for those who aren't fans of stop-start.

I don’t see any mention of start stop on TRD sport or TRD offroad .. can anyone confirm? I didn’t see the button in the trd sport I sat in.

Yes and no. The Limiteds have it, but seem none of the others do. Strange why that did it like that.

Yea, my 2024 TRD Sport with the $8K Premium package doesn’t have the Start / Top feature.

My Non Premium/Upgraded 24 TRDOR 6MT doesnt have it. And I'm glad.

It's probably just on California trucks, they always have some dumb hurdles to jump through for manufacturers
