When I was a cook in the National Guard, We were required to be license in every military vehicle in our yard. From the jeeps to 2 1/2 ton trucks, boy were they fun to drive too.

I must have been a dangerous guy on the roads, young ,innocent with the brains I had. No experience, they told me jump in drive the 2 1/ 2 ton truck, drove the truck around the park one time, ten minutes later I was license for every vehicle.
    The “deuce and a half”
Looking back , that 2 1/2 ton truck was my first 4x4 I drove . We had a field exercise. At night too. I still remember that.

I've had Stop/Start in a few VW's and a Ranger. Worked perfect in the VW's. Taking off from a stop the engine was ready by the time I'd moved my foot from the brake pedal to the gas pedal.

My Ranger though...what a mess. What made me finally disable it was it's parking insanity:
    1. Drive into parking spot
    2. Press brake to stop
    3. Engine turns off
    4. Shift to park
    5. Engine starts up :annoyed:
    6. Turn off engine with key

Never realized parking would be a problem with the start/stop systems. Especially on the Rangers ?

Don’t they have a turn off button? I thought I saw this feature somewhere? Maybe not on all vehicles?

Start/ Stop will be coming to bathrooms soon, start the shower and stops for you. 1 1/2 minutes , saves water. electricity .

My ranger had the button to disable it. Was easy to permanently disable it with forescan.

The Ranger owners will thank you!

My 1999 Ford Ranger does not have the Start/Stop , but it “Stops” when it wants too! Automatically!

I think that's called Automatic Stop and maybe Start.

I think each manufacturers have there own terminology? Copy rights maybe?

Toyota “Auto Start & Stop” , says the “stop & start system” is , by default always on.
Yes.. you can say “Auto Start & Stop”. or “stop & start” . Both refer to the same thing.
    ———-
In Hawaii we grew up calling this as “ shave ice”. , some call it “sno-cones” ,other “ice shave” or “shavers”. All refers to the same thing.
    ————
Toyota off road system is call “ crawl control”.
Ford calls there’s as “G.O.A.T” mode - Go Over Any Terrain.
Some calls there 4x4 always open diffs as S.H.I.T. ( See How It Turns))
( Surely Heading In Trouble). ( Stupid Heads Ignoring This)
