Hello everyone.I know I don't post very much but I do check the site regularly, especially the underground.Anyway I was at my buddys this afternoon having a few beers and we got to talking about transponder keys.Well to make a long story short,I have a hardware store key I keep in my wallet in case I lock myself out.Found out that if you put a cheap $1.50 hardware store key in the ignition and hold the head of your chipped key against the head of the other key your truck will start.Maybe this is old news but I haddent heard of it before.Anyway thought I would post it,it could help someone out of a jamb someday.:D

That's where I was going with the idea.If you have a spare key in your wallet like I do and your original key gets damaged you can still drive your truck.

Blank key would come in handy for using the ACC ignition setting for playing music at a campground etc. without someone taking off with your truck.

do all thekeys have a chip, becuase i have the thin no rubber key ring part key and it started the truck, so if there is a chip in it, it would have to be inthe metal part of the key, is that where it is or how it works...? mines an '07

Is this really a "chip" or is it just a little RFID tag like they put in a DVD box? Has anybody ever opened up one of these keys to see what's inside?

i tried my credit card key that came with the truck(wouldn't even turn) I suggest taking a real key and using a little gasket cement sticking it in an obscure area .Don't use too much permatex blue or you'll have a wee bit of trouble taking off if needed.
