Dropped the tank method first on the floor and in the garage. Miserable. Was a huge pain to do it that way. When I went to plug the fuel pump connector back in (blindly) I bent one of the contacts so it wasn’t sending power to the pump. Couldn’t get it started so I said “f this “ I am going to cut a hole in the bed. Thought about then decided to remove my bed. Had to cut one hole in my bed because one of the captive nuts broke off that held the bed down. Turned into a total restoration process on the rear frame. Ordered trail gear frame stiffeners and went to town. No more rust and nice clean frame.

Yep - cheap hobo freight 120 flux core. I used to be able to weld but I did it and it’s not coming off. That’s what counts right? Used an air needler, wire wheel on my angle grinder and all kinds of hours. Used Eastwood rust encapsulator and topped with krylom rattle can.

Id put about a gallon of fluid film on it right now while everything is super accessible. Then touch up yearly with half a gallon or so from here on out

I have the fluid film black with the 3D nozzle. I use that on the inside of the frame only. The eastwood stuff on the outside is a super hard shell that lasts a long time. I covered it with a top coat as well so should not have to do to much to the outside. I went as far as using my automotive borescope to see inside my frame so I could check out spaces I can't visually see. I attach a small hose to my shop vac and suck out as much crap as I can (mainly dirt and rocks) and then fill the inside of it with the fluid film black. Works very well as far as I can tell. Owned this TuRD for the past 15 years and have always kept up on the frame and it shows no sign of failure which is lucky for the area I live in. You can find lots of parts trucks here with rusted out frames and people selling the diffs, engines, trans, interior and body panels. Marketplace usually has quite a few as well as Tundras, 4 runners that never took care of the frame. Lucky for people like me :)
