Give them a chance to make it right. It does not sound like Toyota has refused to repair the issue.

I read about a Tacoma that had a catastrophic failure on facebook. Toyota was replacing the motor with a new one. All of the advice from the internet was to sue Toyota and claim lemon law. Never mind the fact Toyota was fulfilling their obligation by replacing the defective parts. It is like all of the people complaining about the fuel pump recall. Toyota is doing the right thing, just give them a chance to fix it.

I wonder how many times you told them that you were a master tech? That really had them shaking in their boots. Right up there with "I'm an attorney" and "I work fries at McDonalds".

As stated, they are under no obligation go give you a new truck. I would be shocked if they did.

One thing I would ask for that you may be entitled to is diminished value. It will undoubtedly be reported to Carfax as a major engine repair. Of course you can't go in acting like a Richard with ridiculous demands.

"Master tech", as in what the guys in the express service department that do the 5,000 and 10,000 mile services like to call themselves?

What an unfortunate experience. I also would go in there, calmly at first and try to also ask for a replacement truck. Jesus, its only 300 miles. It would be different if it had 3000 miles. You didnt spend that kind of money to get a rebuilt engine. They might be able to change my mind if they told me they were swapping the entire engine with a complete new engine, not a short block, not rebuilt heads, etc. I know they are not obligated to replace your truck, but I also think that would be my first request. Good luck!

He likely drove it like his sti , like a dick . Going in and “flipping out ” isn’t going to get you shit other then warranty work . The scratch it had on delivery you accepted when you signed the paperwork . They likely offered to fix it or give you a discount or both for the trouble. I’ve been thru the lemon law case with my shit box 18 sti , from issues starting at 300 miles . It took two years 38k Miles and 28k in repairs for them to buy that Shitbox back . Just go in and don’t be a dick and see what they offer if you don’t like it document anything and everything and take it from there.

Worked 7 years as a Master Tech...so, he started the first day on the job as a Master Tech?

Anyone who ever worked a job where you must deal with the customer/public learns how to deal with assholes. The good ones know how to make the assholes lose their minds while remaining calm and laughing inside. Knowing this, a Master Tech wouldn't have went full Karen.

I understand where you are on this. I probably wouldn’t want to keep it either. But I can’t imagine they are gonna replace the truck. They will fix it and give it back. In all likelihood it’ll be just fine for the rest of your ownership with it.
