With commercial in-flight refueling (Hahahaha!) happening, I don't see why they couldn't hang a 'new' engine in-flight.

Are you fucking dense? Or just trying to get your count up for TWSS next year? When I said I was out, I meant, I am out of this conversation.

i'd take the new engine and request free extended services to a certain point as a perk. You dont want to hear my stories about the dealer. Like when they put stock plugs in my trd supercharged taco and blew a ring on the highway. Was shooting oil out of the intake and the dealer and "toyota" said it was normal with my mileage.

Not quite sure I follow your logic there. The same chimp that built this one also built every other truck on that line, along with his 20 coworkers and legion of robots. They probably touched the truck you're driving.

yeah because a scratch on bumper is exactly like a failed engine.

Apparently you didn't read post #55 where the OP claims the scratch on the truck along with a poor sales/delivery experience is leading to him requesting a new truck....not just the engine issue

To add, it's not an engine failure, the entire engine didn't fail. One component failed based on the OP's original claim. It's not that big of a deal, it will get fixed with the warranty still intact.

There is literally no reason to turn this thread into a dumpster fire. Wait to see what OPs result with Toyota is, and fight about it then. Right now this thread is full of people arguing about possible outcomes of a situation that currently has NO CONFIRMED CAUSE. Being that I own a 3rd gen with a 3.5 that has over 90,000 miles on it, I am trying to follow this thread to see the cause of the failure, and how Toyota handles it. I am sure I speak for the silent masses on this site when I ask everyone to just let it rest until OP has more information, that way we don't have to sift through 100 pages of trash to find one post with actual information.

Your kind of new at trucks, and the buying, and warranty process, it seems. One component fails , one part replaced.

OP’s engine will be dismantled and examined for cause of failure, the factory will make an assessment, and tell the dealership what to do.
The OP doesn’t have much say in the process with the factory, but he might get the dealership to do something different, possible, but unlikely.

I bet rpm's of engine since new will be reviewed as well in the computer. I have personally seen a neighbor of ours yrs ago hold her nice 1st gen tacoma on the floor in her driveway for 30+ minutes. It didn't blow but I wouldn't want it after.

Could be a fueling issue also. German cars always throw codes because they are hyper sensitive. Toyota trucks aren't like that. You get an engine code you're already screwed. I think that's one of the reasons toyota gets a reputation for reliability. Dull ecu feedback. When my fuel pump was clogged as hell there were no system codes even though my fuel trims were horrible and my truck had a hard times starting randomly.

Yeah, but "no compression" isn't simply a code. It is something that can be measured with a physical gauge that is screwed in where the spark plugs goes.

Yea in this case it seems like a defective ring. If it was a bad missfires due to a defective plug it would throw codes but in this case it's quality control. When I buy a new car I usually drive 2 or 3 of the same model to perceive how stout the engine is. It's incredible the variation can be especially in high hp cars. It's also a good measurement on how well the engine was put together.

More likely a valve issue. Rings will show low compression not none.
