Truck starter clicks, battery, cables good. Replaced starter, same click. Will not start in Neutral. Move out of park and all gears will not engage, truck auto transmission is not engaging, neutral in all positions, but park. Tried starting while moving shifter nothing, shifter will go through gears easy. Checked linkage all good. Why will truck not go in rev, drive etc. too start?

I'm sorry, the post is a little confusing. Are you trying to start it with the automatic transmission in gear? Are you saying when the truck is started none of the gear positions function?

No, I try to start in park P or in neutral N. But when I moved from P to N my truck rolled a bit. I thought not supposed to do that. So then I moved it to D drive, L low etc, I found out that it's in Neutral in all gears, there are no gears. The transmission is not letting the gears engage. Hence no start just the solenoid click and nothing turning to start truck.

There is nothing abnormal about your truck rolling when the engine is off, and the transmission is not in Park. The click you are hearing when attempting to start would lead me to believe it is something in the starting system. You have checked and verified that the battery, battery cables, and starter are all good, so I can't think of any other suggestions at the moment. I'm guessing you tried starting with a jump box or jumper cables?

So you saying the the truck will roll back quite a ways (20ft +) and forth in drive and reverse even though it's not neutral. Yep ,even had it on a charger. Battery good and cables ,even cleaned all connectors including transmission.

Glad you fixed it, new parts being a dud isn't uncommon.

Is the new battery really bad, or might it have not been properly connected? IE have you had it load tested?

Your description of trans behavior is normal.
